Designed with a commitment to sustainable practices, the portfolio supports the automotive industry's transition toward smarter, cleaner, and more connected mobility.

OPTIREG™ portfolio overview

CAN transceiver – Through connection to the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus, CAN transceiver chips shuttle data to and from the bus at medium speeds of up to 1 Mbps. Commonly used within all types of passenger vehicles for engine control, transmission, and braking, as well as within aerospace, building automation, and medical equipment industries. They are generally more prevalent in sophisticated applications due to increased costs when compared to LIN transceivers.

LIN transceiver – Through connection to the LIN (Local Interconnect Network) bus, LIN transceivers operate along a single wire at speeds of up to 19.2 kbps. Commonly used within automotive applications such as light sensors and climate control, as well as for non-critical components in other industries. The slower speed of the LIN protocol combined with lower costs and easy connectivity mean they are usually used in less critical applications that, thanks to the controller’s smaller size, can easily be integrated into tight spaces.

Infineon's OPTIREG™ low dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulators combine quality and technology to provide simple power supply solutions. They are specially designed for automotive applications with loads, such as transceivers, microcontrollers, active antennas, and sensors. Our LDOs are made up of small components in a simple layout and are easy to use for straightforward customer design. They offer a broad range of integrated safety and protection features such as overload protection, short-circuit protection, reverse polarity protection, and overtemperature protection. Infineon automotive LDOs are also low-noise and low-consumption due to their low quiescent current.

Infineon OPTIREG™ automotive switching regulators are designed to withstand harsh automotive environments. They offer a broad range of integrated protection and control features to ensure efficient, high-quality automotive electronic control units (ECUs). Switching regulators can be used to generate a single stabilized output voltage from several different input voltages. They are low-quiescent and can utilize over 95% of electricity converted in most cases, resulting in very little energy waste. This makes switching regulators not only highly efficient but also the cost-effective choice for customers looking for quality and flexibility in automotive ECU design.

The OPTIREG™ SBC offer high integration and high performance at an optimized system cost for various automotive applications. Our solutions combine voltage supplies such as LDO or DC-DC with up to 750 mA, communication interfaces with CAN FD transceiver up to 5 Mbps according to ISO 11898-2:2016 (including Partial Networking option) and LIN transceiver (LIN2.2 J2602), as well as supervision features (Wake input, watchdog, reset, interrupt and Fail Output).

OPTIREG™ PMIC products are power management integrated circuits consisting of integrated, multi-rail supply solutions for demanding automotive systems in segments such as chassis, safety, ADAS, powertrain, and drive train.

PMIC chipset for automotive safety and powertrain systems has efficient, reliable, and safe voltage regulation, including pre- and post-regulator architectures, and DC-DC, linear, and tracking regulators. Besides, power supply, additional monitoring and supervision functions enable reliable and easy design of the safety concept for ECUs.
