Overview

While Infineon has a strong focus on ESD specific devices, it also has solutions for another major TVS category i.e., high current surge. In this case, a long duration high current event is the issue, not the nearly instantaneous super high voltage ESD event. To handle these longer current pulses, a different kind of part is required.

High surge protection levels

With Electric Fast Transient (EFT) ratings of 80 A and peak pulse currents of up to 34 A, Infineon surge protection diodes are ideal for applications that require more than the typical ESD ratings.

Industry standard for DSL line protection

Infineon is a long-time supplier of the DSL70 protection device for DSL line protection. These devices provide ESD/transient protection of ADSL, VDSL, ISDN, WAN, LAN, I²C bus, microcontroller inputs, video, and other high-speed data lines in telecom applications. DSL70 products are compliant with IEC61000-4-2 (ESD): ± 15 kV (Air/Contact) IEC61000-4-4 (EFT): 4 kV/80 A (5/50 ns), IEC61000-4-5 (Lightning): 27 A (8/20 µs). In addition, these devices feature very low capacitance and extremely low reverse current (< 5 nA).
