About

One scalable RISC-V platform, from real-time control to high-end compute

AURIX™ RC1 extends the AURIX™ family with Infineon's RISC-V multicore real-time cluster architecture. It keeps the real-time behavior, functional safety, and security AURIX™ is known for, the best in class low power from TRAVEO™ and adds the scalability that SDV, SDX, and physical AI applications demand. The family is organized as one common platform.

Devices scale along three axes:

  • Compute: core count and embedded memory size
  • Connectivity: CAN XL, 10BASE-T1S and multi-gigabit Ethernet, with an integrated BRIGHTLANE™ switch on selected devices
  • Integration: functional integration for centralized, zonal and X-in-1 architectures

A shared architecture, software stack and tool chain span the whole range, so platform software is re-used instead of rebuilt for every node. The AURIX™ RC1 Virtual Prototype is available today, and first RC1 silicon will be available in 2027.

Scalable RISC-V compute with automotive real-time, safety and security

AURIX™ RC1 combines scalable RISC-V compute with the capabilities automotive systems demand:

  • Compute performance: up to 12 cores, up to 1.2 GHz target core speed and more than 40,000 DMIPS, which sets how many functions can be consolidated onto one device.
  • Embedded memory: 2-40 MB, which determines how much application and platform software fits on chip.
  • Safety level: ISO 26262 compliant architecture supporting applications up to ASIL D, which decides the safety functions the device may carry.
  • Security: ISO/SAE 21434 compliant, quantum-secured and crypto-agile, which determines how long the platform stays defensible over a vehicle lifetime.
  • Connectivity: CAN XL, 10BASE-T1S and multi-gigabit Ethernet with an integrated BRIGHTLANE™ switch on selected devices, which decides whether a separate switch IC is needed. Two more parameters worth checking early
  • Highest efficiency: dedicated Low Power System Management optimising energy usage through flexible multiple power modes
  • Process technology: manufactured in 12 nm and 22 nm process technologies.

One platform across the vehicle and beyond

AURIX™ RC1 covers the automotive compute and real-time control space:

  • Body, zone and gateway: body control modules, zone controllers and gateway nodes that consolidate functions behind one Ethernet backbone. Helping reduce ECU complexity and support centralized electrical/electronic architectures.
  • Powertrain: engine management and xEV powertrain applications, including traction inverter, power conversion, on-board charging and X-in-1 integration.
  • Chassis and safety: chassis control and vehicle dynamics, plus ADAS safety companion functions next to a high-performance SoC, providing deterministic real-time supervision for safety-relevant functions.
  • Physical AI and robotics: real-time  motion, sensing and actuation control for intelligent machines beyond the vehicle. The same architecture, software stack and tool chain support these applications, enabling software reuse, reducing development effort and allowing a platform investment in one topology to carry into the next.

One platform for software-defined vehicles, SDX and physical AI

AURIX™ RC1 is one common microcontroller platform that scales from compact control units to high-end compute:

  • Simplified development and software re-use: one scalable RISC-V platform with a broad software stack and ecosystem, virtual prototyping and strong technical support.
  • Reduced system cost: a feature- and cost-optimized portfolio enables maximum functional integration in centralized, zonal and X-in-1 architectures.
  • Improved vehicle efficiency: integrated power management and enhanced real-time control reduce energy consumption across all vehicle operating states.
  • Future-proof performance: more CPU performance meets the proven AURIX™ safety and real-time architecture.

Backed by the AURIX™ ecosystem

AURIX™ Preferred Design Houses are trained on AURIX™ microcontrollers and add system concept, PCB design, software integration, functional safety, cybersecurity and validation support. The wider AURIX™ RC1 partner ecosystem supplies compilers, debuggers, operating systems, middleware, AUTOSAR stacks and tooling for RISC-V based development.

Start software development before silicon!

The AURIX™ RC1 Virtual Prototype is available today, so architecture and software work can begin before first silicon.

  • Virtual prototyping: evaluate architecture, benchmark workloads and start integration before samples arrive.
  • Software and tools: embedded software, development tools and complementary OPTIREG™ power management in one coordinated offering.
  • Migration support: planned DRIVECORE™ packages span AUTOSAR and open-source environments, so proven software assets can be re-used.
  • Open ecosystem: through Quintauris, Infineon contributes to common foundations for the automotive RISC-V ecosystem.

Design-in material:

Evaluation boards and application notes follow with first silicon. Until then the design-in set is the Virtual Prototype plus the AURIX™ RC1 documentation: data sheets, user manuals, safety manuals, pinning and ballout data and power calculation tools.

Performance that shows up at system level

Raw compute is only part of the decision. AURIX™ RC1 is dimensioned so that performance converts into system savings:

  • Integrated Ethernet switch: BRIGHTLANE™ switch functionality on selected devices removes a separate switch IC from zone and gateway designs, saving board area, power and a supply rail.
  • Consolidation instead of distribution: up to 12 cores and up to 40 MB embedded memory let several ECU functions share one device.
  • Real-time under load: the multicore real-time cluster architecture keeps deterministic response while application-class workloads run alongside.
  • Power against performance: multiple low-power modes with instant wake-up keep always-on functions available without paying full-system power.

Complementary OPTIREG™ power management completes the system solution, so a functional safety compliant power supply design is available for AURIX™ RC1 designs.
