With the ever-growing power need of AI server racks, the challenge is to deliver more power in the same physical footprint apart from other challenges like costs or cooling. To address this, Infineon has developed a range of hybrid power supply unit (PSU) solutions that combine silicon (Si), silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies ranging from 3kW to soon 12kW. By combining the strengths of each technology, Infineon's SPMS solutions achieve better efficiency and power density that meet the growing power needs of AI data centers. Edge artificial intelligence (edge AI) is the implementation and deployment of AI applications in an edge computing environment or device close to where the data is located rather than in a central environment such as in a cloud computing facility. Common use cases to be deploying AI include smart speakers and voice assistant technology using speech recognition analysis relying on a set of complex AI technologies. Artificial intelligence brings autonomous driving to its destination. Alongside electrification, autonomous driving is one of the megatrend topics in the automotive sector and is inconceivable without the use of AI. The autonomy of a vehicle can only be guaranteed if a large number of different data can be processed in parallel. The vehicle must react correctly to many complex scenarios in road traffic. To do this, it must perceive its environment and respond appropriately.  This includes, for example, reliable pedestrian detection, the behavior of other road users, road signs or traffic lights. When driving, a large amount of sensor data is collected, which in turn results in an almost impossible series of possible combinations. This is not possible on the basis of pure calculations, as the capacities for the required computing power on traditional chips are not sufficient for this. AI makes it possible to map this multitude of different and parallel processes and thus guarantee safe autonomous driving.
