About

Infineon's CoolSET™ Switch fixed frequency (FF) family comprises current-mode controller suitable for flyback and high voltage buck converter SMPS. They integrate a 700 V, 800 V, or 950 V avalanche rugged CoolMOS™ P7 superjunction MOSFET and offer a wide range of features, including advanced protection with auto-restart to minimize system disruption, configurable active burst mode to improve standby and light load performance, and frequency reduction operation to further increase light and medium load efficiency at a lower switching frequency. CoolSET™ Switch FF ICs support both continuous-current-mode (CCM) and discontinuous-conduction-mode (DCM) flyback operation with slope compensation.

Multiple configurations are available to meet the broad requirements of diverse target applications such as home appliances, mainly washing machines, refridgerators, A/C units, as well as home and building automation, server and data center applications and industrial SMPS with power outputs ranging from 14.5 W to 40 W.

The CoolSET™ Switch quasi-resonant (QR) family offers integrated power ICs optimized for offline switch mode power supplies (SMPS) in a cascode configuration. In a single package, they integrate a controller IC and a 800 V CoolMOS™ P7 superjunction MOSFET. CoolSET™ Switch QR ICs can achieve lower EMI and higher efficiency with improved digital frequency reduction through the proprietary novel quasi-resonant operation. In addition to standard built-in protection features such as output short-circuit and overload protection, the ICs incorporate additional measures to detect abnormal line inputs such as overvoltage and undervoltage. All protection modes are implemented with auto-resume to minimize system disruption.

Multiple configurations are available to meet broad requirements for power outputs ranging from 15 W to 42 W with home appliances such as refrigerators and A/C units, TVs, PCs, and industrial SMPS amongst the target applications.
