About

The smart ballast controller for UV-C disinfection lamps (ICB2FL03G) comes in a slim SO-16 package. It is tailored for cost-performance optimized applications operating UV-C lamps. The ICB2FL03G integrates all functions required to operate UV-C disinfection lamps such as preheat-, ignition- and run-mode and protection features. Digital mixed-signal power control is employed enabling speedy, cost-effective, and stable ballast designs with a minimum number of external components. Reliable and robust high-voltage isolation is achieved using Infineon’s proprietary Coreless Transformer Technology (CLT).

The intelligent ballast controller offers several features and benefits to ensure safety by using critical conduction mode PFC with overcurrent and overvoltage protection and internal loop compensation. In addition, the controller is able to handle lamp chokes with high saturation behaviors, resulting in optimized lamp choke size and reduced BOM costs. Intelligent discrimination between surge and half-bridge overcurrent events allows automatic restart from surge and inverter overcurrent events. In addition, the ICB2FL03G complies with DIN VDE 0108 emergency lighting standards by skipping preheating in the event of a line interruption < 500 ms.

The ICB2FL03 intelligent ballast controller is primarily designed for linear fluorescent lamp ballasts for T5 and T8 lamps as well as compact fluorescent lamp ballasts. It can also be used for emergency lighting ballasts, series-connected multi-lamp ballasts and multi-power ballasts. In addition, the excellent dynamic PFC performance enables very low THD over wide load ranges. ranges, making it even more suitable for dimming applications and multi-power ballasts.
