About

Infineon's PSOC™ Automotive 4 S series with its 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M0+ microcontrollers consists of five different product families: PSOC™ 4000S, PSOC™ 4100S, PSOC™ 4100S Plus, PSOC™ 4100S Max, and PSOC™ 4700S Plus. This MCU series extends the portfolio by offering higher flash and SRAM capacity, as well as additional features like crypto, CAN FD, and the latest generation of capacitive sensing technology.

With the introduction of a new fifth generation of the popular CAPSENSE™ technology in PSOC™ 4100S Max, the products are enabled to provide superior SNR and a very low noise floor, as well as high-speed scanning of multiple sensor nodes while maintaining sufficient processing capacity to implement a complete HMI application.

The S series also provides the industry’s first microcontroller with inductive sensing and capacitive sensing technology in a single chip through its PSOC™ 4700S Plus family. The inductive sensing technology enables the sensing of metal objects and the industry-leading capacitive sensing technology (CAPSENSE™) enables the sensing of non-metallic objects.

The PSOC™ Automotive 4 S series is a highly advanced microcontroller unit that offers maximum memory, smart I/O integration, and a wide range of features, making it an ideal choice for demanding applications. With up to 384 KB flash and 32 KB SRAM, the MCU provides ample storage for complex programs. Furthermore, it supports up to 84 analog and digital GPIO pins, offering flexible connectivity options for a wide range of applications.

The PSOC™ Automotive 4 S series features dual MSC CAPSENSE™ blocks, which support multiple data collection methods, including touch, resistive, and current sensors. The blocks offer superior noise immunity with SNR (>300:1) and inductive sensing that can detect metal deflection under 190 nm. The inductive-sense software component automatically calibrates the solution to compensate for manufacturing variations, offering support for up to four sensors.

The PSOC™ Automotive 4 S series also includes a variety of on-chip peripherals, CAN, CAN FD, TX I2S, fast I2C, and segment LCD, as well as TCPWM x8 and SCB x5. The MCU also features enhanced cryptography with a dedicated hardware security block to support AES, SHA, TRNG, PRNG, and CRC functions.

ModusToolbox™

ModusToolbox™ Software is a modern, extensible development environment supporting a wide range of Infineon microcontroller devices, including PSOC™ Automotive Arm® Cortex® Microcontrollers. Infineon's Modustoobox offers a variety of code repositories on GitHub that are comprehensive, flexible, and atomic. This means that you will have access to all of the resources you need, can use them in your own workflow, and obtain only those resources which are necessary for your project. These repositories include board support packages (BSPs), low-level resources like a hardware abstraction layer (HAL) and peripheral driver library (PDL), and middleware that enables industry-leading features such as CAPSENSE™.
