About

Infineon’s rad hard power electronics are used throughout satellite bus platforms and payloads to improve size, efficiency, and power density of space power systems. Certified to ESA and DLA standards, Infineon’s rad hard power management and power conversion portfolio is recognized globally for its excellent performance, reliability, longevity, and world-class design heritage. Our design, operations, and quality systems exceed military standards. Infineon offers semiconductor-based products specifically designed for space applications where commercial electronics cannot meet the requirements.

  • Rad hard power MOSFETs: Infineon’s N-channel and P-channel rad hard MOSFETs are screened to MIL-PRF-19500 and ESCC-5000 and available as QPLs. Select rad hard MOSFETs are also available as bare die.
  • Rad hard power ICs: Infineon’s rad hard power ICs are engineered to match the rad hard MOSFETS for maximum performance. They are rated at 100 krads(Si) for TID and have been characterized for single-event effects (SEE).
  • Rad hard solid state relays: Infineon’s SSR family includes optically coupled, buffered and non-buffered solid state relays, using Infineon IR HiRel’s industry-leading rad hard MOSFET technology.
  • Rad hard synchronous rectifiers: Infineon's rad hard synchronous rectifiers co-pack rad hard N-channel power MOSFETs and Schottky diodes in an efficient, board space saving solution.
  • Space Schottkys diodes and rectifiers: Infineon's Schottky diodes and ultra-fast rectifiers are available in single, common cathode, common anode, and double configurations. They are offered in various voltages and industry standard packages. US DLA QPLs are also available.

Infineon’s rad hard MOSFETs are tested to verify their radiation hardness capability with an assurance program based on the requirements outlined in ESCC-5000, MIL-PRF-19500, and associated slash sheets. Our IR HiRel-branded products exceed the standard requirements with a sampling size up to two times greater than is required for every manufacturing lot. Both pre- and post-irradiation performance are tested and specified using the same drive circuitry and test conditions to provide a direct comparison. Radiation hardened-by-design techniques virtually eliminate the possibility of single-event gate rupture (SEGR) and single-event burnout (SEB) in the rad hard power MOSFETs. Robust performance is then verified through extensive SEE testing.

For over 75 years, IR HiRel has been a trusted partner in space exploration, providing high-reliability memory, power, and RF solutions that have enabled groundbreaking missions.

From the farthest reaches of our solar system to low Earth orbit, our technology has played a critical role in advancing our understanding of the universe.
