anchor

Overview

EZ-USB™ HX2LP is Infineon's 2-/4-port high-speed USB 2.0 hub controller with single 3.3 V power supply and automotive grade options. It is a low-cost system solution with integrated 1.5 kΩ pull-up for full-speed operation and 15 kΩ pull-down resistors and series termination resistors on all upstream and downstream D+/D- pins. This results in optimization of system costs by providing built-in support for the USB 2.0 specification.

Key Features

  • USB-IF certified (TID# 30000009)
  • Up to four downstream ports
  • Single 3.3 V power supply
  • Support for bus-powered modes
  • Support for self-powered modes
  • Single transaction translator (TT)
  • In-system EEPROM programming
  • Up/downstream termination resistors
  • Downstream termination resistors
  • Port status indicator control
  • 56-QFN package

About

EZ-USB™ HX2LP is a versatile family of USB 2.0 hub controllers that delivers high performance while consuming low power. It is a single-chip solution that integrates upstream and downstream transceivers, a USB serial interface engine (SIE), USB hub control and repeater logic, and TT logic. EZ-USB™ HX2LP is fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification and has been tested and certified by Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL). The device supports both bus-powered and self-powered modes, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. With an external SPI EEPROM, users can easily configure the controller to meet their specific requirements. In addition, Infineon has integrated many of the external passive components, such as pull-up and pull-down resistors, and even includes integrated port status indicator control. This reduces the overall bill of materials required to implement a hub design and simplifies the design process.

CY7C65630 is a 4-port device with single transaction translator. This device is for ultra-low-power applications that require four downstream ports. All four ports share a single transaction translator. CY7C65630 is available in 56-QFN and is pin-for-pin compatible with CY7C65640.

CY7C65620 is a 2-port device with single transaction translator. This device is for a 2-port bus-powered application. Both ports share a single transaction translator. CY7C65620 is available in a 56-QFN package.

CY7C65631 is a 4-port device with single transaction translator. This device is for ultra-low-power applications that require four downstream ports. All four ports share a single transaction translator. CY7C65631 is available in a 56-QFN package and is pin-for-pin compatible with CY7C65640. It comes from the same die as CY65630 but undergoes a different manufacturing process.

CY7C65621 is a 2-port device with single transaction translator. This device is for a 2-port bus-powered application. Both ports share a single transaction translator. CY7C65621 is available in a 56-QFN package, and it comes from the same die as CY65620 but undergoes a different manufacturing process.

Infineon EZ-USB™ family of hub controllers integrate many passive components that are usually external: elements such as pull-up and pull-down resistors are included on-chip, reducing the overall bill of materials (BOM) required to implement a hub design. Moreover, the availability of support material and reference design kits helps designers in the development process, significantly reducing the time to market. EZ-USB™ HX2LP reference design kits (RDK) are tools to demonstrate the features of EZ-USB™ HX2LP devices. Both CY7C65620 and CY7C65630 are identical in every aspect except for the number of ports they support. In the initial phase of the design, this board helps developers to understand the chip features and limitations before proceeding with a complete design. The RDK includes support documents related to board hardware, PC application software, and EEPROM configuration data (.iic) files. CY4605 (2-port hub) and CY4606 (4-port hub) are evaluation boards offered.
