Overview

An electronic driving license is a physical card with an embedded chip that securly stores the driver's personal and licensing information. It enhances security, enables quick identity verification, and reduces risk of tampering or forgery. Infineon delivers highly integrated, ready-to-go, certified platforms, scaling from low-end deployments to high-end multi-application schemes.

Benefits

  • Broadest hardware portfolio
  • High computing performance
  • Highest contactless performance
  • Large memory size
  • Java and native solution offering
  • Thin and robust modules
  • Highly certified
  • Continuous innovation

About

Traditional driving licenses are rapidly migrating from paper-based documents to electronic driver's licenses (eDLs). Not only do biometric driver's licenses offer much greater protection against counterfeit and misuse through the combination of physical, digital, and biometric authentication features, but they are also capable of supporting the growing demand for the integration of complementary applications such as vehicle rental or registration services. However, issuers are challenged to ensure robust security over a long lifetime along with seamless connectivity and high performance across highly diverse IT and control systems.

Backed by a robust and extensive technology portfolio, Infineon is committed to guiding customers through the complexities of eDL projects, covering everything from technology and reference solution assessments to prototyping and final design. Our products are also designed to comply with ISO standards and European regulations for driving licenses.

  • Our security microcontrollers offer digital hardware security Integrity Guard, SOLID FLASH™, very high bit rates (VHBR), contactless competence, and Common Criteria EAL 6+ security certification, making it a perfect match for today’s governmental security requirements.
  • Our integrated solutions—with security microcontrollers, packages, Java and Native operating systems, applets, and middleware - offer the best combination of hardware and software for easy design-in and fastest time-to-market. Customers all over the world rely on our highly integrated, ready-to-go, certified platforms, scaling from low-end deployments to high-end multi-application schemes.
