About

Infineon’s brushed (BDC) motor driver IC portfolio provides a wide range of high-performance solutions, scalable for various automotive applications depending on the required output current and preferred integration level:

  • MOTIX™ Driver: Advanced multi MOSFET gate driver ICs to drive up to 16 external MOSFETs with the state of the art protection features.
  • MOTIX™ Bridge: Single and multi half-bridge ICs and full-bridge ICs integrating driver stage and MOSFETs into one package with excellent diagnosis and protection features.
  • MOTIX™ SBC: Motor system ICs (SBC) with integrated bridge driver, power supply and communication interfaces, e.g. LIN and CAN FD transceivers.
  • MOTIX™ MCU (SoC): With MOTIX™ 32-bit motor control SoC Infineon offers in a addition a system-on-chip (SoC) solution based on Arm® Cortex®-M.

This extensive offering of intelligent motor control ICs is complemented by microcontrollers, sensors, transceivers, voltage regulators and MOSFETs to simplify the design of end-to-end system solutions.

Infineon offers the most comprehensive portfolio of motor control ICs and different levels of function integration of its hardware.

  • MOTIX™ TLE9210x gate driver ICs are designed to control up to eight half-bridges (up to 16 n-channel MOSFETs). This low-integrated solution with discrete components gives you the flexibility of selecting the optimal device for each function.
  • MOTIX™ single and multi half-bridge ICs combine gate-drivers with the MOSFET power stage in a single package. A small foot print on the PCB, diagnostic feedback and protection add to the benefits of higher integration.
  • MOTIX™ BTM90xx full-bridge ICs provide a broad range of protection and diagnosis features. The TSDSO-14 package with exposed pad ensures optimized thermal performance.
  • Infineon’s MOTIX™ motor system IC (SBC) is the world first IC to combine DC motor control with supply functionalities such as power supply, CAN FD & LIN.
  • With MOTIX™ motor control SoCs system-on-chip solutions based on Arm® Cortex®-M are available.

For industrial usage Infineon adds to the automotive qualified DC motor control solutions industrial half- and full-bridges (IFX007 and IFX9201).

Not only the increasing number of in-cabin comfort functionalities requires smart low-voltage motor control but also the increased number of safety features drives the electrical motor market forward. Infineon’s MOTIX™ products for brushed DC motor control offer high performance at an optimized system cost for various automotive applications.

Product and application examples:

  • MOTIX™ gate driver ICs for example provides ideal solutions for power seat modules or power closure systems.
  • MOTIX™ multi half-bridge ICs are designed for applications such as for heating, ventilations and air-conditioning (HVAC), as well as mirror adjustment and fold.
  • MOTIX™ TLE9166EQ is a powerful, versatile, and adaptable solution for door control modules and zone controllers.
  • Typical applications of the MOTIX™ BTM90xx full-bridge ICs are door/safe lock, fuel/e-charging lid, mirror fold, door cinching latch, trunk cinching latch and body control modules
  • MOTIX™ motor system ICs (SBC) provide the ideal features for seat control and sunroof modules as well as power lift gate and seatbelt pretensioners.
  • Application examples for MOTIX™ motor control SoCs are sunroofs, window lifts or HVAC blowers.

Infineon’s patented adaptive MOSFET control concept is reducing cost and eliminating efforts of end-of-line MOSFET calibration by an internal feedback loop between Infineon’s Driver IC and the MOSFETs.

The multi-stage slew rate control enables EMC tuning via SPI, including adjusting slew rate with independence from dead-time and turn on/off delays. The on-board measurement and self-adaption of external MOSFET switching times allows balancing of power dissipation vs. EMC performance, adjusts for MOSFET lot-to-lot variations, and makes the MOTIX™ TLE9210x a perfect choice for many different applications.

Several MOTIX™ products for brushed DC motor control are using the concept of adaptive MOSFET control: TLE9210x multi MOSFET gate driver ICs, TLE956x motor system ICs (SBC), and TLE985x and TLE988x 32-bit motor control (SoC) families.
