PSOC™ Edge is designed for next generation responsive compute and control applications, featuring hardware-assisted machine learning (ML) acceleration. This new family of MCUs deliver next-level end-user experiences by enabling end products to be more intelligent and intuitively usable, by lowering the barrier in human-machine interaction and adding contextual awareness to end applications. All while providing robust privacy and safety protection through embedded Edge Protect technologies.

The PSOC™ Edge devices are based on high performance Arm® Cortex®-M55, including Helium™ DSP support paired with Arm® Ethos™-U55 and Cortex®-M33 paired Infineon’s ultra-low power NNLite neural network accelerator.  Support for “always-on” sensing and response makes the devices ideal for advanced IoT devices such as smart home, security, wearables, robotics, and many more. 

PSOC™ Edge features a multi-domain architecture for high-performance and fine grained power optimization. 

This architecture includes:

  • High-performance domain featuring the Arm® Cortex®-M55 CPU including Helium™ DSP paired with Ethos™-U55 Neural Processing Unit.
  • Low-Power Domain featuring Arm® Cortex®-M33 CPU paired with Inifneon's NNLite for Always-On Edge AI applications.

PSOC™ Edge includes support for a variety of HMI interfaces and ample memory resources to reduce system cost:

  • Up to 6MB of Total SRAM
  • 512 kB of RRAM
  • Highly integrated analog subsystem
  • Audio multi-microphone interfaces for far-field applications
  • Low Power 2.5D Graphics Processor Unit for rendering images and text
  • Display Controller with MIPI-DSI/DBI interfaces up to 1024x768 
  • Secured Enclave providing implementation providing secure boot, secured firmware updates, key storage functions and crypto operations
  • Security up to Infineon Edge Protect Category 4 (EPC 4) equivalent to PSA level 4
  • Off-the-shelf Trusted Firmware-M enabled and Mbed-TLS for crypto operations
