About

The Infineon XC800 family revolutionized the world of microcontrollers when it was first introduced in 2005. Designed with a dual-cycle optimized 8051 "E-Warp" core, this 8-bit microcontroller family has become a trusted choice for a wide range of applications. With the A-family, Infineon has addressed the demanding challenges of the automotive industry. These microcontrollers are built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, vibrations, and extreme temperature ranges that are often encountered in automotive applications. The A-family devices offer robust performance, reliability, and comprehensive safety features, making them ideal for automotive control systems, body electronics, powertrain management, and various other automotive-related functions.

XC800 A-family comes in the form of the following XC800 A-family (Automotive) subcategories:

XC88x series, XC87x series, XC86x series, XC83x series, XC82x series, XC800-150°C series, XC800-140°C series, and XC800-ROM series

In fast-growing mass markets, low-cost and fast time-to-market solutions are key. Nevertheless, customers will not compromise on smart and energy-efficient designs.

The mass markets for electric drives are heading towards greater adoption of more efficient brushless motors or even sensorless motors, reducing BOM and making magnetic field sensors obsolete. Infineon's XC800 microcontrollers and solutions are an excellent fit for these emerging requirements. We have been a leading supplier of motor control for e-bikes for many years.

XC800 product family of 8-bit microcontrollers provides a scalable portfolio of low-cost devices for various types of motor control and industrial automation:

  • Portfolio from 2 KB to 64 KB flash and from 16-pin to 64-pin package options, qualified up to 125°C operating temperature
  • Optimized peripherals and ROM code for field-oriented 3-phase motor control (FOC)
  • Solutions for AC/DC power factor correction
  • MultiCAN technology supports two CAN nodes with 32 message objects
  • Protocol stack for implementation into IO-Link sensor/actuator networks
  • For use in IEC 60730/Class B-certified applications
