About

The AS595x and AS596x families, including module variants, deliver fully integrated CT sensor solutions combining photodiode arrays and high-performance ADCs on a single chip. This integration into one device reduces interconnect complexity, lowers system cost, and improves SNR, power efficiency, and image quality.

The portfolio spans value, performance, and premium segments, enabling scalable system design across a wide range of CT architectures. Proven devices such as the AS5952 support cost-efficient imaging, while the next-generation AS5966 leverages TSV technology for true 4-side buttable designs, enabling large-area detectors with uniform pixel pitch.

Designed for medical, industrial, and security CT, these solutions support scalable multi-slice systems from entry-level to high-end platforms. Integrated calibration, reference generation, and low-noise readout enable high-speed, low-dose operation.

Flexible options up to fully integrated modules accelerate system development and future-proof next-generation CT designs.

The AS590x and AS591x families are multi-channel detector interface ICs combining low-noise analog front ends with high-resolution current-to-digital conversion, enabling precise and efficient readout of photodiode-based detectors in CT systems and X-ray line scanners.

Each channel integrates charge integration, sample-and-hold, and multi-stage ADC conversion, delivering up to 26-bit resolution with ultra-low input-referred noise. This ensures excellent image quality and reliable signal integrity, even at low X-ray dose.

Supporting up to 512 channels with zero dead time and no charge loss, the devices enable simultaneous high-speed readout for demanding imaging systems. The integrated AFE allows direct connection to photodiode arrays, minimizing external circuitry.

On-chip voltage references, LDOs, temperature sensing, and calibration functions reduce system complexity, BOM, and footprint. A scalable architecture across 128, 256, and 512 channels enables flexible system designs, from compact line scanners to high-performance CT systems, while maintaining outstanding power-to-noise efficiency.

Photon counting technology represents a major advancement in X-ray detection, enabling direct conversion and counting of individual photons, including energy information. Unlike conventional integrating detectors, this approach provides precise signal quantification and spectral imaging capabilities.

By capturing both photon count and energy, photon counting enables higher spatial resolution, improved contrast-to-noise ratio, and material differentiation. This results in enhanced image quality, reduced artefacts, and improved diagnostic accuracy.

A key advantage is superior dose efficiency, allowing high-quality imaging at significantly lower radiation levels. This makes photon counting a critical enabler for next-generation CT systems.

Infineon supports this evolution with advanced module solutions, including system-in-package architectures with highly integrated sensor and readout functionality. Scalable integration and buttable designs enable high-resolution detectors and flexible system architectures, supporting future-ready CT and advanced X-ray imaging applications.
