Infineon’s EZ-USB™ FX20 controller and EverProX 10-meter Active Optical Cable enable 20 Gbps connectivity for USB3 Vision cameras

Munich, Germany – 30 September 2026 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) and EverProX (SZSE: 300548) are collaborating to introduce a 10-meter-long USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Active Optical Cable (AOC) for next-generation USB3 Vision cameras, supporting data transfer rates of up to 20 Gbps. The solution combines Infineon’s EZ-USB™ FX20 peripheral controller technology with EverProX’s active optical technology. The AOC uses optical fiber for high-speed data transmission, addressing the signal loss and range limitations of conventional passive copper cables. At the same time, integrated copper conductors supply power through the cable, allowing a connected camera to receive both high-speed data and operating power via a single cable. This simplifies camera installation and reduces cable complexity in industrial systems, supporting applications such as high-speed defect inspection, 3D imaging, medical imaging, precision measurement, robotics, and AI-based visual analytics.

The EZ-USB FX20 peripheral controller enables USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connectivity for machine vision cameras with data rates of up to 20 Gbps. Its high-bandwidth LVDS and LVCMOS interfaces support high-speed data transfer between image-processing devices and the USB interface, while integrated USB Type-C orientation detection and correction, high-capacity data buffering, and firmware support for USB3 Vision applications facilitate camera system development. Combined with the EverProX 10-meter AOC, the FX20 enables high-speed data transmission over distances beyond the practical range of conventional passive copper USB cables. The optical data path provides high signal integrity across the entire cable length and offers immunity to electromagnetic interference, making the solution suitable for electrically noisy industrial environments.

The 10-meter cable length gives developers greater flexibility when positioning cameras in factories, on production lines, in laboratories, and in robotic work cells, while host computers and image-processing equipment can remain in protected or centralized locations. Carrying both power and data through the AOC further simplifies deployment and helps reduce the number of cables, power adapters, and installation points required for each camera. The combination of high bandwidth, low latency, and long-distance data transmission supports higher camera resolutions and frame rates, reduced image compression, richer pixel formats, and faster delivery of image data to Edge AI processors and host computers.
