Overview

Infineon's SuperSO8 package is equivalent to the industry-standard PQFN 5x6 mm package. The SuperSO8 package offers customers the highest efficiency and power management for a variety of applications including server, telecom, power tools, low-voltage drives as well as Class D audio amplifiers. The SuperSO8 package is also available in a thermally enhanced version, with a maximum case temperature capability of 175°C.

Enhanced temperature rating for improved robustness

OptiMOS™ 5 power MOSFETs in SuperSO8 package combine the latest technology together with temperature improvements in the package. This new combination enables higher power density as well as improved robustness meeting excellent efficiency and system reliability.

Optimized 175°C in SuperSO8 product portfolio

Compared to lower-rated devices, the max junction temperature of 175°C feature offers either more power at a higher operating junction temperature or longer lifetime at the same operating junction temperature. Furthermore, 20% improvement in the Safe Operating Area (SOA) is achieved. This new package feature is the perfect fit for applications such as telecom, motor drives, and servers.

OptiMOS™ 5 175°C and 150°C comparison

Compared to the standard SuperSO8 (with max junction temperature of 150°C), OptiMOS™ 5 175°C shows up to 30% increase either in drain current or in power dissipation. The first wave of products offering this enhanced temperature rating is available in OptiMOS™ 5 in 30 V, 40 V, and 60 V.
