MOTIX™ Embedded Power ICs are systems that can enable mechatronic motor control solutions for either relay, half-bridge or full-bridge DC and BLDC motor applications.
Our System-on-Chip solutions offer an unmatched level of integration of all functions required to sense, control and actuate a motor.
Our highly integrated System-on-Chip solutions have various substantial benefits due to the advanced diagnosis features and minimal number of external devices.
Enable cost and board space improvements:
Our Embedded Power products integrate data processing, actuation and sensing. The chip comes in a leadless VQFN package with 7 x 7 mm footprint and enables PCB space saving. The Embedded Power IC families allow driving of relays and MOSFETs at VBatt ≥ 6 V without external components, providing a very cost effective solution on a system level.
Enabling high levels of system reliability:
Extensive diagnostics and protections are embedded within the system-on-chip, more than a discrete approach can offer. In addition both the Embedded Power IC and the external MOFESTs can be protected.
Support multiple and flexible designs with minimal effort:
All Embedded Power ICs are software compatible, maximizing a single design through scalability.
Various support materials are offered by the Infineon and third party vendors:
- Evaluation Boards
- Low Level Drivers (SDK)
- LIN Low Level Drivers
- Configuration Tools (Config Wizard)
- Debuggers
- Application Notes

Our product offerings for motor control solutions
The MOTIX™ TLE984x family is mainly addressing body and comfort solutions such as sunroof and window lift. Our platform solution for size- and weight-optimized relay-based motor control solutions offers scalability in terms of flash memory size and MCU system clock frequency with pin-compatible devices.
For single-phase applications like engine cooling fan, HVAC blower or auxiliary water pumps, dedicated variants within the MOTIX™ TLE984x (with PN-Halfbridge) and MOTIX™ TLE985x (with NN-Halfbaridge) can be used to achieve a cost-efficient solution and saving PCB space due to the high integration.
Infineon´s cost efficient H-Bridge Driver IC with Integrated MOTIX™ Arm® Cortex® M0 is optimized for automotive applications like sunroof, window lift, power lift gates and pumps. It enables optimization of the system concerning EME (electro-magnetic emissions, slow slew rates) as well as power dissipation (short dead times) simultaneously through adaptive MOSFET driver.
The MOTIX™ TLE987x family addresses BLDC applications up to 1kW such as engine cooling fan, HVAC blower or auxiliary pumps (e.g. oil, water and fuel pump). Besides the Automotive target applications also power tools, drones and other industrial BLDC applications.

Applications
Our MOTIX™ Embedded Power ICs based on Arm® Cortex® M offer dedicated solutions for body and powertrain applications. They enable optimization of the target applications due to the System-on-Chip solution and the minimum number of external parts.
QM-parts in Functional Safety Applications (ASIL)
Infineon`s MOTIX™ Embedded Power ICs are developed as QM-parts, but nonetheless can be and are already used in a variety of motor control application that require Functional Safety (ISO26262) up to ASIL-B such as but not limited to Window Lift (ASIL-A), Sunroof (ASIL-A), Auxiliary pumps (ASIL-B) or Engine Cooling Fan (ASIL-B).
Infineon offers the following design-in support for its MOTIX™ Embedded Power ICs:
- FIT data information (ISO26262)
- Function/Blocks vs. Area Breakdown
If these data is required, please contact your local Infineon partner who can provide you with these information.

Additional Tools for Design-in
Embedded Power ICs provide a built-in boot strap loader (BSL) for programming the system-on-chip devices over the built-in LIN transceiver or UART. The uIO Stick acts as an interface between the TLE98xx device and a PC. It handles the BSL protocols as well as the physical layers. A PC application (uIO BSL Tool) provides access to all BSL functions of the Embedded Power device.
