IT:U and Infineon open LearnLabs für High-Tech Education in Linz

Linz, Juy 9, 2026 – With the opening of new LearnLabs, the Interdisciplinary Transformation University Austria (IT:U) and Infineon Austria have reached a major milestone in their recently established strategic partnership. Covering approximately 330 square meters at the Infineon site in Linz (Donaufeldstraße 5), IT:U operates state-of-the-art learning and laboratory facilities for master’s students. The new labs were officially inaugurated today in the presence of distinguished representatives from industry and academia.

Three specialized IT:U „LearnLabs“ at Infineon
At the heart of the LearnLabs concept are project-based learning and interdisciplinary collaboration across different fields of expertise. Students work in small teams using state-of-the-art development and manufacturing technologies, turning ideas into tangible prototypes.

The Smart Electronics Lab (“ELVIS”) enables students to work with Infineon hardware and software solutions for applications such as developing AI models and microcontrollers for digital health solutions. The Digital Prototyping Lab (“HELGA”) provides access to digital manufacturing technologies, including 3D printing. The Space Technology Lab (“SPOK”) focuses on satellite research, including applications for environmental monitoring. The LearnLabs will be available to approximately 60 students enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Computing master’s program starting in the winter semester of 2026/27.

By working on real-world challenges in project-based settings, students develop not only technological expertise but also essential future skills, including project management, communication, and purposeful interdisciplinary collaboration. The partnership therefore makes a significant contribution to strengthening the region’s educational and economic ecosystem while supporting the development of future-oriented career paths.
