Villach, April 14, 2025 – The new permanent exhibition "Material Worlds" opened a few days ago at the Vienna Museum of Science and Technology and is now accessible to visitors for the first time. With a unique focus on the diversity of the materials that surround us and their importance for technologies and society, the exhibition presents exciting insights into the past, present and future of materials that shape our everyday lives on 3,000 m².

A special highlight of the exhibition is the “theme island Silicon", which provides an in-depth look into the world of semiconductor materials. Infineon Austria has made a significant contribution to the equipment of this island: visitors can discover an impressive collection of exhibits - including wafers, i.e. silicon wafers that serve as the basic elements of modern microelectronics, a wide variety of chip solutions that enable communication, mobility and energy efficiency, as well as cleanroom clothing that is essential to produce these precision technologies. But that's not all: a production facility provided by Infineon is also on display at the start of the exhibition. This equipment will be used for two key steps in the production process.

With its involvement in the exhibition, Infineon Austria not only wants to highlight the relevance of silicon as a key material for digitalization, but also the role of energy-efficient semiconductor solutions that support the transformation to a safer and greener future.

The "Material Worlds" exhibition invites visitors to experience materials and production processes from a completely new perspective - playfully and interactively. Infineon Austria is delighted to be part of this inspiring exhibition and to bring visitors closer to the fascinating world of silicon - a world that shapes our present and shapes the future.
