Villach, 2. January 2023 - As a leading company with regional ties, Infineon promotes the quality of life locally and is currently underlining this with two activities around the turn of the year: Infineon employees fulfilled over 800 heartfelt wishes of children from socio-educational institutions with the Christmas Wish Tree and around 2,000 more biodiverse trees were planted on the Oswaldiberg with the reforestation initiative.

"Sustainability means combining social, ecological and economic responsibility. This topic has been important to us for a long time and is firmly anchored in our corporate culture. We contribute to this in three ways: through our energy-saving chips, through our processes and through our responsible behavior - especially here in the region," says Jörg Eisenschmied, CFO of Infineon Technologies Austria AG and responsible for sustainability. "I am particularly proud that our employees support our activities so actively. They actively participate in our nature conservation campaigns and bring great joy to many children with their Christmas presents."

Habitat, species diversity and biodiversity on the Oswaldiberg
In recent weeks, Infineon Austria has planted around 2,000 trees on an area of around 1.5 hectares on the southern slope of the Oswaldiberg in cooperation with ARGE Naturschutz and the Villach District Forestry Inspectorate. These include rare and ecologically valuable tree species such as Norway maple, Speierling and wild service tree. Flowering shrubs were also planted along the edges of the areas to provide food and shelter for bees, insects and birds. Thanks to Infineon's voluntary reforestation initiative, a climate-adapted mixed tree forest is being created here, providing a habitat for humans and animals. A weather station with sensors and AI models was also installed in cooperation with the company EBJ in order to obtain valuable data for microclimate measurement.

3,700 trees and 100 nesting sites in Villach
In total, Infineon has planted around 3,700 trees on 2.6 hectares over the last two years together with Arge NATURSCHUTZ and the Villach forestry inspectorate. The voluntary commitment of the employees is also particularly noteworthy: They actively participate in nature conservation campaigns, set up 100 nesting and roosting sites for birds and bats and contribute to research into climate change and nature conservation by monitoring small animals.

Sixth Christmas tree campaign fulfills children's wishes
With the "Christmas Wish Tree" campaign, Infineon employees have fulfilled the heartfelt wishes of children and young people from socio-educational institutions in the region for the sixth time. Infineon received 809 heartfelt wishes in the form of lovingly designed Christmas cards. The wishes ranged from clothes, cuddly dolls and card games to books.

Together with the socio-educational institutions Josefinum in Klagenfurt, Haus Antonius in Villach, Diakonie de La Tour in Villach, Treffen, Klagenfurt, Waiern and Hermagor, Kinder- und Jugendhilfe Villach, SOS Kinderdorf Moosburg, Amica in Klagenfurt and Contraste in Villach as well as Pro Juventute Graz and Linz, the Infineon Christmas Wish Tree team organized and implemented this campaign perfectly. The presents were handed over shortly before Christmas at the Villach, Linz and Graz locations. In this way, the Infineon team can bring real joy to children, exactly where it is urgently needed.
