The ICL88xx family of single-stage flyback LED controllers for constant voltage output is tailored for LED lighting applications. The controllers have an optimal price/performance ratio with excellent power factor, THD, low EMI, and optimum efficiency at high light quality. ICL8800 includes all basic family features, whereas the advanced ICL8810 and the fully-featured ICL8820 include additional features that enable smart lighting like low stand-by power or jitter for emergency lighting.
In the ICL5102 (Infineon’s highly integrated PFC (power factor correction) + HB (half-bridge) combo controller ), the integration of PFC and HB into a single controller enables reduction of external components and optimizes performance by harmonized operation of the two stages. Compared to level-shifter technology, the integrated coreless transformer featuring galvanic isolation not only further reduces the loss at high operation frequency, but also enhances the capability of handling huge negative voltages. Low variation in the output voltage and current allows for best in class THD and high power factor and a greater ability to withstand AC line perturbations. The multi-mode operation of PFC converter provides excellent efficiency over the whole load range. The wide input voltage range up to 480VAC in ICL5102HV enables global high power designs with just one device.
