Führende Unternehmen der Halbleiterindustrie treiben gemeinsam RISC-V voran

Hamburg, Deutschland – 4. August 2023 – Die Halbleiterunternehmen Robert Bosch GmbH, Infineon Technologies AG, Nordic Semiconductor, NXP ® Semiconductors und Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. investieren gemeinsam in ein Unternehmen, das die Entwicklung von Hardware der nächsten Generation ermöglichen und so die Verbreitung von RISC-V weltweit vorantreiben soll.
Das in Deutschland zu gründende Unternehmen soll die Kommerzialisierung künftiger Produkte auf Basis der Open-Source-Architektur RISC-V beschleunigen. Als zentrale Anlaufstelle wird das Unternehmen die Interoperabilität zwischen RISC-V basierten Produkten ermöglichen, Referenzarchitekturen bereitstellen und Lösungen etablieren, die in der Industrie weite Anwendung finden. Der Fokus liegt zunächst auf Automotive-Anwendungen mit einer möglichen Erweiterung um die Bereiche Mobile und IoT.
Die RISC-V-Technologie fördert Innovation und ermöglicht Unternehmen die Entwicklung innovativer, maßgeschneiderter Hardware auf Grundlage eines Open-Source-Befehlssatzes. Die weitere Verbreitung der RISC-V-Technologie fördert die Vielfalt in der Elektronikindustrie, reduziert Eintrittsbarrieren für kleinere Unternehmen und bietet etablierten Anbietern eine bessere Skalierbarkeit.
Das Unternehmen lädt Branchenverbände, führende Industrievertretende und die Politik ein, diese Initiative zu unterstützen und so die Resilienz des Halbleiter-Ökosystems zu stärken.
Die Unternehmensgründung ist vorbehaltlich behördlicher Zustimmung in verschiedenen Ländern.

Nordic Semiconductor
