For nearly 80 years, Infineon’s Warstein site has been developing and producing future-ready technologies that meet society’s growing demands for energy and mobility. As a global center of excellence for power semiconductor modules, Warstein is more relevant than ever. The modules developed here are key enablers of the energy transition. Power semiconductors from Warstein are found wherever energy is generated, transmitted, or used – including in wind and solar power systems, and electric mobility.

In recent years, the site has seen significant growth, particularly in research and development. To support this expansion, a new building with laboratory and office space will be constructed by summer 2026, offering modern work environments for up to 350 employees – and scalable to approximately 500 through a flexible desk-sharing system. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2024, and the building will also serve as a new, modern architectural landmark for the site.

Infineon is tackling climate change not only through sustainable product solutions, but also through its own operations. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. Accordingly, the new building is being designed with a focus on minimizing its carbon footprint. Key measures include hybrid timber construction and compliance with the KfW40 energy efficiency standard. In addition, Infineon is pursuing a BREEAM Excellent certification – BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a globally recognized sustainability standard for the built environment. It assesses projects based on a holistic view of sustainability performance.
