Overview

Infineon's CoolSET™ PWM fixed frequency (FF) controller combines an external HV MOSFET with the internal current regulator to operate the start-up sequence safely and rapidly which allows an easy implementation of brown-in protection. The FF flyback converter can detect abnormal line-input conditions and has improved in-system production as well as enhanced overtemperature protection (OTP) to improve operational fault handling.

It offers different variants optimized for offline aux SMPS for server, PC power, aircon, refrigerator, audio and main SMPS for the adapter, set-top-box, water purifier, TV, industrial SMPS, and POE.

The state-of-the-art CoolSET™ PWM fixed frequency flyback ICs with start-up cell for power ranges up to 300 W enable superior safety and reliability operations. The active burst mode operation achieves extremely low standby power consumption, frequency jittering obtains low EMI, adjustable blanking window to facilitate load jumps and high voltage startup cells that allows you to quickly power up your controller from the rectified line. Furthermore, the FF flyback ICs offer high performance and protection features like OLP, VCC under and OVP to increase system robustness. Integrated line input over voltage protection and error amplifier reduces the BOM count and cost. The provide increased mid and light load efficiency with digital frequency reduction and support high power delivery with slope compensation for CCM operation.
