Overview

Our cost-effective and highly integrated 24 GHz radar system solutions include driver assistance features such as blind spot detection. The automotive radar system consists of various components that are flexible for a range of system architectures. Additionally, AURIX™, our ADAS derivative, eliminates the need for additional DSP, external SRAM, and external ADC ICs, resulting in a cost-efficient implementation of short-range radars in vehicles.

Benefits

  • Integrated phase locked loop (PLL)
  • Low phase noise
  • Single supply voltage 3.3 V
  • Small VQFN-32 leadless package
  • On-chip power/temperature sensors
  • AEC-Q100 qualified

About

Infineon is a market leader with its portfolio of 24 GHz radar sensors. The silicon germanium (SiGe) MMICs (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) operate in the 24 GHz ISM band from 24 GHz to 24.25 GHz for signal generation and reception based on a 24 GHz fundamental voltage-controlled oscillator. The components are qualified according to AEC-Q100 standard.

Infineon's BGT24 transceivers are highly integrated and are a part of the largest family of 24 GHz ISM-band radar transceivers in the market, providing a range of different transmitter and receiver channel configurations:

  • BGT24ATR11: 1 Tx, 1 Rx
  • BGT24ATR12: 1 Tx, 2 Rx
  • BGT24AT2: 2 Tx
  • BGT24AR4: 4 Rx

The 24 GHz radar sensors are ideally suited for cost-effective implementations of Rear or Front Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA/FCTA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), or Collision Mitigation (CM) applications due to their low power consumption, ease-of-use, and high level of integration. The high integration of the sensors – transmit channel and receive channels on one chip – saves expensive PCB space and simplifies PCB design significantly. It saves approximately 30% board space compared to discrete line ups. The standard VQFN package can be easily mounted in available Surface Mounted Technology (SMT) production lines.
