Mai 2023 – Drahtloses Laden ist aus der modernen, batteriebetriebenen Welt nicht mehr wegzudenken und sorgt in vielen Branchen für eine optimierte und benutzerfreundliche Anwendung tragbarer Produkte. Mit dem Wireless-Charging-Transmitter-IC WLC1150 erweitert die Infineon Technologies AG ihr Portfolio an Wireless-Charging-Controller-ICs (WLC) und bietet eine hochintegrierte, einfach zu konfigurierende und kostengünstige Lösung für Anwendungen, die drahtloses Laden mit höherer Ladeleistung erfordern. Dazu gehören industrielle und medizinische Geräte, Roboter und Drohnen, Staubsauger, Elektrowerkzeuge, Docking-Stationen und Smartphone-Ladegeräte, die das Qi Extended Power Profile (EPP) unterstützen.
Der WLC1150-Transmitter-IC wurde entwickelt, um die Anforderungen solcher Anwendungen zu erfüllen, etwa nach hohem Wirkungsgrad, flexiblen Wärmemanagement-Optionen und geringen elektromagnetischen Störungen (EMI). Außerdem verfügt der Transmitter-IC über eine integrierte adaptive Fremdkörpererkennung (FOD), eine Wechselrichtersteuerung und verschiedene andere Funktionen. Zur adaptiven Fremdkörpererkennung werden mehrere Methoden wie Q-Faktor, Resonanzfrequenz und Leistung verwendet.
Der WLC1150 unterstützt drahtloses Laden bis zu 50 W über ein proprietäres Hochleistungs-Ladeprotokoll und einen weiten Versorgungsspannungsbereich von 4,5 bis 24 V. Eine integrierte Stromversorgung für einen Lüfter ermöglicht das Wärmemanagement durch aktive Kühlung der Geräteoberfläche während des drahtlosen Ladevorgangs. Der WLC1150 Transmitter-IC enthält integrierte Gate-Treiber für die Ansteuerung der MOSFETs im Wechselrichter.
Außerdem ist eine USB-Typ-C-Power-Delivery (PD)-Schnittstelle zur Stromversorgung integriert, die den neuesten USB-PD 3.1-Standard mit programmierbarem Stromversorgungsmodus (PPS) unterstützt. Der WLC1150 erfüllt die Qi 1.3 Spezifikation für induktives drahtloses Laden einschließlich dem Basisleistungsprofil (BPP), dem erweitertem Leistungsprofil (EPP) und der proprietären Leistungserweiterung (PPDE). Er eignet sich für Systeme, die entweder über eine USB-Typ-C Schnittstelle oder über einen festen Eingang von einem Gleichstromnetzteil versorgt werden. Bei beiden Eingangskonfigurationen benötigt der Transmitter keinen zusätzlichen Gleichspannungswandler. Das erhöht die Systemeffizienz erheblich.
Ein einstellbarer Überspannungsschutz (OVP), Überstromschutz (OCP) und Übertemperaturschutz (OTP) werden ebenfalls unterstützt. Der Transmitter-IC WLC1150 kann mit dem sich noch in der Entwicklung befindlichen Empfänger-IC WLC1250 gekoppelt werden, um komplette Lösungen für induktives drahtloses Laden zu realisieren.
Der WLC1150 basiert auf einem programmierbaren 32-Bit Arm® Cortex®-M0-Prozessor, der mit 128 KB Flash, 16 KB RAM und verschiedenen Peripheriegeräten wie ADC, PWMs und Timern ausgestattet ist. Die mit angebotene Firmware verfügt über zahlreiche konfigurierbare Systemparameter. Ermöglicht wird dies durch eine einfach zu bedienende grafische Benutzeroberfläche (GUI), die den Konfigurationsprozess erheblich vereinfacht. In Kombination mit der ModusToolbox™ von Infineon ermöglichen die programmierbaren Funktionen des WLC1150 die Entwicklung individueller und skalierbarer induktiver drahtloser Ladelösungen bis zu 50 W basierend auf der neuesten QI Spezifikation und einem proprietären Protokoll.
