München und Göteborg, Schweden – 24. November 2022 – Die Infineon Technologies AG und Fingerprint Cards AB (Fingerprints™) haben eine Vereinbarung über die gemeinsame Entwicklung und Vermarktung einer Plug-and-Play-Lösung für eine biometrische Bankkarte unterzeichnet. Ziel der Zusammenarbeit ist es, die Produktion biometrischer Bankkarten so einfach und unkompliziert zu gestalten wie die Produktion einer Standard-Dual-Interface-Zahlungskarte.
Diese umfassende, einsatzbereite SECORA™ Pay Bio-Lösung wird sowohl den FPC1323-Sensor von Fingerprints mit einem biometrischen Software-Algorithmus als auch das kommende Secure Element SLC39B von Infineon enthalten. Die gebrauchsfertige Lösung wird mit einem vorzertifizierten Java Card™-Betriebssystem einschließlich Mastercard- und Visa-Bio-Applet geliefert werden. Mit der Entwicklung des innovativen Biometric Coil on Module (BCoM)-Gehäuses von Infineon, das auf der induktiven Kopplungstechnologie basiert, wird der gesamte Herstellungsprozess biometrischer Bankkarten erheblich vereinfacht und die Materialstückliste deutlich reduziert. Dadurch können Kartenhersteller bereits vorhandene Anlagen für die Produktion biometrischer Bankkarten nutzen. BCoM ermöglicht eine skalierbare und effiziente Massenproduktion.
„Unsere Zusammenarbeit mit Infineon wird die Grenzen für die Herstellung biometrischer Bankkarten mit neuen, innovativen Produktdesigns für den Massenmarkt weiter verschieben“, sagt Michel Roig, President of Payment & Access bei Fingerprints. „Wir kombinieren und integrieren den FPC1323 von Fingerprints und den SLC39B Security System-on-Chip von Infineon in einem Systempaket. Mit diesen führenden Komponenten bieten wir bewährte biometrische Leistung, die durch einen einzigen Chip erreicht wird. Diese innovative und vollständig integrierte Lösung wird die Produktion vereinfachen und skalierbar machen. Verbraucherinnen und Verbrauchern ermöglicht diese sorgenlose Zahlungen.“

Wir werden weiterhin mit unseren Partnern zusammenarbeiten und Innovationen entwickeln, um eine großartige Customer Journey mit biometrischen Bankkarten zu ermöglichen – von der Produktion über die Registrierung bis hin zur Bezahlung im Einzelhandel für gesicherte und nahtlose Transaktionen.
ABI Research [1] geht davon aus, dass im Jahr 2025 bis zu 140 Millionen biometrische Sensor-Bankkarten ausgegeben werden. Damit wird sich die Nachfrage der Verbraucher nach einer bequemeren und weiterhin gut gesicherten biometrischen Authentifizierung im persönlichen Zahlungsverkehr erfüllen. Im täglichen Leben verifizieren Inhaber*innen biometrischer Karten ihre Identität, indem sie einfach einen Finger auf den Sensor der Karte legen und die Karte ans Terminal halten. Das hat den klaren Vorteil, dass beim Bezahlen an einem POS-Terminal (Point of Sale) kein PIN-Code eingegeben werden muss. Aus diesem Grund können biometrische Zahlungskarten bequemere und hygienischere Zahlungserfahrungen bieten, ohne dass niedrige Transaktionslimits erforderlich sind. Jede Transaktion wird durch eine Zweitfaktor-Authentifizierung autorisiert, was den Missbrauch bei verlorenen oder gestohlenen Karten drastisch reduziert.
SECORA Pay Bio erweitert die gut etablierte SECORA Pay-Familie der Bezahllösungen von Infineon. Damit wird das schnell wachsende Segment der biometrischen Bankkarten bedient. Der SLC39B ist der fortschrittliche System-on-Chip (SoC) Kryptoprozessor von Infineon mit integrierter Stromquelle, großem Speicher und vielfältiger Peripherie sowie klassenbester kontaktloser Performance. Das BCoM des Unternehmens ist ein maßgeschneidertes, innovatives Dual-Interface Coil on Module (CoM) für SECORA Pay Bio, das den fortschrittlichen Sensor von Fingerprints und das kommende Secure Element von Infineon in einem einzigen Gehäuse integriert. Dank der induktiven Kopplungstechnologie ist keine Drahtverbindung zwischen der Kartenantenne und dem Modul erforderlich. Das verbessert die Robustheit und langfristige Zuverlässigkeit von biometrischen Bankkarten deutlich.
