On 4 October, 2023, Infineon acquired the Zurich-based startup 3db Access AG (3db), a pioneer in secured low power Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and preferred IP provider for major automotive brands. The acquisition further strengthened Infineon’s portfolio for secured smart access, precise localization and enhanced sensing adding to its portfolio including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth ®/Bluetooth ® Low Energy and NFC solutions. Originally an ETH Zurich spinoff, 3db maintains a collaboration with ETH and CSEM.

Today, the Switzerland team consists of about 25 engineers focusing on UWB, with office space and labs in Zurich and Martigny. The team collaborates closely with Infineon sites in Munich, Graz, Bucharest and Bangalore. With the acquisition of the non-optical analog/mixed-signal sensor portfolio from ams OSRAM Group, Infineon grows its presence in Switzerland and adds competencies and team members
