CoolSET™ Switch quasi-resonant

Integrated high-performance quasi-resonant flyback ICs for AC-DC power conversion

Overview

CoolSET™ Switch quasi-resonant (QR) family combines proprietary quasi-resonant switching with an 800 V avalanche-rugged CoolMOS™ P7 in a single cascode package. Valley switching cuts switching losses and EMI for higher efficiency, especially at light and medium load, and the superjunction P7 keeps thermals and implementation simple. Covers up to 42 W for appliances and offline SMPS.

About

The CoolSET™ Switch quasi-resonant (QR) family integrates a controller IC and an 800 V avalanche-rugged CoolMOS™ P7 superjunction MOSFET in a single cascode package, optimised for offline SMPS. Configurations cover power outputs up to 42 W, with refrigerators, air conditioning units, TV standby PSU, PC PSU, and industrial SMPS among broad range of applications.

Proprietary quasi-resonant operation with improved digital frequency reduction delivers lower EMI and higher efficiency. Beyond standard output short-circuit and overload protection, the QR ICs detect abnormal line conditions, and every protection mode auto-resumes to minimise system disruption. The cascode configuration adds fast start-up and configurable parameters for design flexibility, and removes the heatsink to cut BOM and footprint. The full range is available in SMD package.
