Overview

Infineon‘s 48 V smart high-side switches of the PROFET™ + 48V family are designed to be used for 48 V board nets. The family offers comprehensive protection functions, current sense diagnosis, 1/2/4-channels, an extended operating voltage range (up to 60 V) and high short-circuit robustness.  All kinds of loads from 1,5 A to 5 A nominal load current can be driven. Some devices have adjustable current limitation and can switch capacitive loads.

The PROFET™ + 48V is especially designed for 48 V systems, such as in electric vehicles or mild hybrid vehicles, central and decentral ECU’s, ADAS loads, fuse and relay replacement as well as for some industrial applications. The family offers a RDS(on) range from 35 to 200 mOhm. The modular family concept consists of single, dual and a four channel device. Beause of the modularity, different devices can be used on the same PCB footprint, which saves costs in case the load requirements change. Finally, some products are also pin- and function compatibel to Infineon's respective 24 V high-side power switch family (PROFET™ + 24V).

All high-side power switches are designed to withstand 70 V voltage transients. A steeply switching slew rate reduces power losses and saves energy. Comprehensive protection functions, fast current sense diagnostic with very tight kILIS accuracy, and an extended operating voltage range up to 60 V ensure the highest operational reliability. Two products with adjustable current limitation and capacitive load switching capability . All kinds of loads (valves, pumps, motors, sensors, bulbs, LED, etc.) up to 5 A nominal load current can be switched. All the family members are PRO-SIL™ ISO 26262-ready. Most of the products have the small TSDSO-14 package.

Infineon Smart Power Switches and Gate Driver Tool Suite supports system architects and hardware designers from the idea to the realization. This suite allows the user to select the right smart power switch or gate driver IC for a specific load using one of the “Finder and Selection” tools. Together with the different “Simulation and Modeling” tools, various application scenarios can be simulated for a product. The results can be documented in the report tool and verified with “Configuration” tools plus the corresponding evaluation boards.
