Motor control 48V – MHEV Auxiliary
Motor and heating control applications
The auxiliary applications 48V can be grouped into motor control applications and heating control applications. Typical motor control applications are eTurbo (electric Turbo Charger/ Compressor) with 3 - 7 kW, eA/C (electric Air-conditioning Compressor, climate compressor in HVAC) with 4 - 5 kW, ERC (Electric Roll Control/ stabilization) with 1 - 5 kW, electric suspension with 1-5 kW, pumps and fans up to 1 kW and other motor control applications with the high power density and/or continuous use. Typical heating applications are: electric heaters such as eCAT (electric catalyst heating)/ EHC (Electric Heated Catalyst) and PTC auxiliary heaters with 1 - 5 kW, windscreen de-icing with 1-3 kW, and other heating applications with the high power density and/or continuous use.
Infineon offers a complete and comprehensive system solution with high integration for space-saving ranging from supply IC’s, Microcontroller, sensors, smart power driver, high power MOSFET, and transceivers. The block diagram below shows the basic layout of the semiconductors used for the 48V e-Compressor motor control application.
