About

Infineon's XENSIV™ Hall effect and TMR technologies enable isolated AC and DC bidirectional coreless current measurement, providing robustness against external homogeneous fields while delivering unique advantages.

With sensing elements designed to withstand surge events, the TLx497x Hall effect current sensors achieve high accuracy, low drift over temperature and lifetime, and high bandwidth by incorporating advanced error compensation techniques. These sensors simplify system-level implementation with features like fast overcurrent detection, calibration capabilities via simple DCDI communication, and ASIL compliance with ISO 26262 standards, ensuring smooth Functional Safety integration.

The TLx557x TMR current sensors offer very high bandwidth, ultra-fast response times, a high Signal-to-Noise Ratio, and low power consumption. These cost-effective sensors feature a compact footprint, making them ideal for shunt replacement and fast protection applications, alongside ISO 26262 ASIL-compliant products.

Our XENSIV™ current sensors with internal current rail (iCR) deliver precise current measurement without requiring calibration. Perfect for applications below 100 A, these sensors integrate a perfectly aligned sensing element with a low-ohmic current rail, minimizing copper losses and enabling higher power density.

Infineon offers XENSIV™ iCR current sensors in several packages:

  • TISON-8: a 8 x 8 mm² leadless package with plated flanks, allowing Lead Tip Inspection. Optimized for efficient heat dissipation and low insertion resistance, it supports up to 70 A of continuous current (132 A peak) at 125°C.
  • DSO-16: a 10.3 x 7.5 mm² leaded package featuring 8 mm clearance and creepage. It provides reinforced isolation up to 1050 V (basic isolation up to 1700 V) and supports up to 60 A of continuous current at 105°C, making it ideal for high-voltage applications

Our XENSIV™ current sensor products with external current rail (eCR) measure the magnetic field generated by current flowing through an external conductor, such as PCB copper traces or busbars. These high-linearity sensors provide accurate measurements after a one-time end-of-line calibration following assembly. Since the current does not flow through the package, the sensors are intrinsically isolated and have no current limitations, making them ideal for measuring high currents, typically exceeding 100 amps.

Infineon offers XENSIV™ eCR current sensors in several packages:

  • VSON-6: a 3.5 x 4.5 mm² cost-effective leadless package with plated flanks for Lead Tip Inspection. With a thickness of just 1 mm, it achieves high magnetic transfer when mounted laterally on a busbar notch or vertically in a busbar slit.
  • TDSO-16: a 5 x 6 mm² leaded package delivering the highest magnetic transfer factor when the current track runs directly underneath, ideal for power PCBs.
  • SOT23: a 2.4 x 2.9 mm² package offering a cost-effective, isolated solution for external current rail measurement.
  • Isolated sensor module: Co-designed with Swoboda, this module is optimized for the HybridPACK™ Drive power module.
