This year, our associated partner Cooler Master, a renowned specialist in PC hardware and thermal solutions, shattered that trade-off. With the launch of the X Silent Edge Platinum, they have introduced the industry's first fanless power supply unit (PSU) capable of delivering up to 1100W – built on Infineon’s power solutions.   

Breaking the heat barrier 

Designing a power supply that delivers over 1000 watts without active cooling is a massive engineering challenge. To eliminate the fan, the device can only generate a small amount of heat, which requires exceptional energy efficiency. It demands the incorporation of traditional silicon with other advanced power technologies that can handle high loads with near-zero energy loss.

The solution: An Infineon-powered core

To achieve this breakthrough, Cooler Master deepened its collaboration with Infineon to engineer a robust, system-level solution. The resulting power architecture relies extensively on Infineon’s portfolio, integrating components from the AC input stage all the way to the DC output to ensure maximum performance.

The X Silent Edge Platinum utilizes a comprehensive portfolio of Infineon’s cutting-edge components to deliver top-tier energy efficiency:

  • Wide-Bandgap Technology: The design leverages CoolSiC™ and CoolMOS™ power semiconductors to drastically reduce switching losses and heat generation.
  • Precision Control: Infineon’s PFC and DC-DC controllers alongside EiceDriver™ gate driver ICs ensure stable, highly efficient power delivery.
  • Solid State Cooling: The unit leverages Cooler Master’s proprietary aluminum heat-pipe technology to manage thermals for the entire system. This advanced heatsink solution works in synergy with Infineon’s CoolSiC™, CoolMOS™, and OptiMOS™ devices, ensuring reliable passive cooling even at high wattages.

The X Silent Edge Platinum offers a "zero-noise" operation, making it the ideal solution for sound engineers, streamers, and professionals who require absolute silence. Further, the removal of the fan eliminates dust intake, significantly increasing the longevity and reliability of the hardware.
