Infineon offers a wide range of multichannel SPI switches & controllers for automotive and industrial applications
Infineon’s family of multichannel SPI switches and controllers support a wide range of automotive and industrial applications. From highly integrated multichannel SPI drivers for low current loads to a multichannel SPI controller designed to drive a spectrum of loads for industrial utilization, Infineon enables extensive scalability, and advanced diagnostics.
Infineon’s SPIDER products include multichannel SPI drivers for low current loads such as LEDs, low-power bulbs, and stepper motors, providing a range of channels and configuration options. The SPIDER+ family introduces enhanced performance with increased configuration capability and new channel partitionings, as well as features. The SPIDER and SPIDER+ families are highly scalable in regards to PWM inputs and current capability while decreasing redesign costs due to their high modularity.
The FLEX family combines full channel scalability and innovative edge technology in multichannel low-side switches. Built for a range of automotive and industrial applications and components that have varying loads, FLEX SPI switches have integrated protection features and advanced diagnostics for exceptional functionality.
SPOC™ +2 is the latest generation of highly integrated multichannel serial interface power controllers for automotive and industrial applications providing state-of-the-art diagnostic and protection features. It offers high flexibility with configurable features like slew rate control and intelligent restart strategy to support power distribution architectures. Furthermore, the SPI interface allows to connect multiple devices via daisy-chain configuration to reduce the amount of GPIOs and contribute to save board space.
Thanks to its full family approach and high flexibility, the SPOC™ +2 target applications are body control modules (BCM), power distribution units (PDU, PDC) and load switching in zonal architectures. Additionally, the available ISO 26262-ready Safety Application Note (SAN) supports functional safety.

About Classic PROFET™ 12 V for automotive power distribution
Infineon's Classic PROFET™ 12 V devices offer a RDS(on) range from 5 – 300 mΩ (0,2 - 20 A). The smart 12 V high-side switches are very reliable and robust products (proven technology, more than 15 years in the market). State-of-the-art protection features and diagnostic functions, specific characteristics and packages enable them to address a broad range of applications from body, powertrain, transmission, to chassis even in harsh environments. Typical applications are fuel injection, brake control, seat heating, chassis control, pumps, and all kind of valves/solenoid switching.
Classic PROFET™ 12 V for automotive power distribution
Infineon's Classic PROFET™ 12V family in addition to 1- and 2-ch- switches also offers a couple of 4-ch devices, which provide an attractive channel price and contribute to PCB space savings, as well as products in very small DSO-8 packages. Thanks to products with high energy capability (> 500 mJ), even big solenoids can be driven. High ohmic products (up to 300 mOhm) make the portfolio more scalable and avoid overhead costs. All products with Inom > 5A provide the enhanced current sense diagnostics; the remaining products mainly have status diagnostics. All products are qualified according to AEC Q100.
Classic PROFET™ 12 V for extended application range
Infineon's Classic PROFET™ 12 V family are mature products, long time proven in the market. Because of the specific features, the products can be used for comfort and safety functions (Body/ECU/ Zone) as well as for controlling the car's basic functions. Because of the extended operating voltage range, even industrial applications can be addressed. Products will stay in the portfolio as long as producible, as supplements to Infineon's newer product families such as PROFET™+ 2.
Classic PROFET™ 12 V design support
Infineon offers a range of design-in materials, which include application notes, PCB design data, simulation models, and online simulations that are available on each product page in the "Design Support" section. In addition, we offer a dedicated tool suite for smart power switches and gate driver ICs for automotive power distribution.
Infineon smart power switches and gate driver tool suite support system architects and hardware designers from idea to realization. This suite allows the user to select the right smart power switch or gate driver IC for a specific load using one of the “Finder & Selection” tools. Together with the different “Simulation & Modeling” tools, various application scenarios can be simulated for the respective product. The results can be documented in the report tool and verified with the “Configuration” tools.
