About

Infineon’s XENSIV™ connected sensor kit (CSK) solves the four biggest challenges of any IoT device development: Sensing the world around us (sense), making sense of the raw data (compute), connecting devices to the cloud (connect), and hardware security (secure). It enables the creation of new prototype ideas based on Infineon sensors including radar, environmental sensors, and others. The kit is meant for companies in the IoT space looking to rapidly design, develop, and manufacture products based on a development ecosystem. It supports testing sensor driven IoT products and use cases as well as prototyping. The kit enables you to significantly reduce the time from proof of concept to a fully developed, finalized IoT design.

Eager to get your hands on the CSK? Right now, it is available in three distinct versions:

  • The KIT_CSK_BGT60TR13C offers real-time XENSIV™ BGT60TR13C radar sensor and XENSIV™ DPS368 pressure sensor evaluation with cloud-based data visualization, and supports use cases such as presence detection and smart entrance counting.
  • The KIT_CSK_PASCO2 provides real-time sensor evaluation with custom configurations and cloud-based XENSIV™ PASCO2V01 sensor data visualization.
  • The KIT_CSK_BGT60UTR11AIP is designed for real-time XENSIV™ BGT60UTR11AIP radar sensor evaluation, with cloud-based data visualization, and supports use cases such as presence detection.

Both kits are composed of a baseboard and then either a radar or CO2 sensor wing board. Whether you choose the radar version or the CO2 version, the baseboard boasts the following features and benefits:

The included PSOC™ 6 microcontroller offers high-performance 150 MHz and 100 MHz dual-core Arm® Cortex®-M4 and Arm® Cortex®-M0+ architecture with ultra-low-power 40 nm technology and a design that consumes as little as 22 μA/MHz in active power mode. Meanwhile, the OPTIGA™ TRUST M delivers integrated, hardware-based secure execution environment with secure data storage. And last but not least, AIROC™ for connectivity our best-in-class Wi-Fi connectivity options enabled with ModusToolbox™ and cloud services support such as Amazon Web Services.

To summarize, the baseboard comes in a small-form-factor (22.5 mm x 63 mm x 30 mm), is Adafruit Feather-compatible, contains a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® 5.0-compliant combo radio module, is a power-optimized design and is deployable with a battery, and is a FCC and CE Pre-certified Rapid IoT module. In addition, you can enjoy seamless integration into ModusToolbox™.

The Infineon Rapid IoT Connect SOM platform deployed on the XENSIV™ CSK provides hardware, firmware, and cloud artifacts to enable rapid onboarding to the internet of things. Bidirectional XENSIV™ sensor to cloud data communication is securely enabled. The XENSIV™ CSK is a pre-implemented Infineon Prototyping Sensor System that makes it possible to provision, monitor, and manage Infineon hardware remotely. Sensor2cloud kit set up takes ten minutes with 12 months free user access to a dedicated cloud demo platform for sensor data collection and interpretation as well as sensor data download.

With our ModusToolbox™ multi-platform development tools, Infineon provides an all-in-one IoT development ecosystem with generic sensor libraries and application example code for sensor and connectivity use cases, such as:

  • Radar presence detection - enabling your application to detect human presence within a configured distance.
  • Radar entrance counter - Infineon's XENSIV™ 60 GHz radar and smart entrance counter provides a solution to counting the number of people who enter and leave a location.
  • CO2 level monitoring - increasingly efficient building insulation can help to mitigate the effects of climate change, but heavily insulated buildings are not always good for human health.
  • You can combine the XENSIV™ connected sensor kit and ModusToolbox™ for truly painless IoT sensor development.
