About

System-on-chip (SoC) with Arm® Cortex®-M3 and 3-phase bridge driver

The MOTIX™ TLE987x, TLE989x and TLE995x 32-bit motor control SoC portfolio comes with either CAN-FD/CAN or LIN communication interface and addresses a wide range of smart 3-phase brushless DC motor control applications like auxiliary pumps and fans.

It provides an unmatched level of integration and system cost to optimize the target application segments. In addition to this, it offers scalability in terms of flash memory sizes and MCU system clock frequency supporting a wide range of motor control algorithms, either sensor-based or sensor-less. Moreover, TLE989x and TLE995x families provides ASIL B safety level and secure motor control.

The MOTIX™ TLE987x,TLE989x and TLE995x families for 3-phase motor control use the same MCU and peripherals as Infineon’s MOTIX™ MCU (SoC) with integrated H-bridge driver families (TLE986x, TLE988x and TLE994x) for brushed motor control, enabling design synergies between DC and BLDC motor control applications.

Highlights and benefits of MOTIX™ MCU (SoC) with integrated 3-phase bridge driver

  • Enable cost and board space improvements – The chip comes in a small package which enables PCB space saving. It allows driving MOSFETs at VBATT ≥ 6 V with a low number of external components, providing reduced BOM on system level.
  • Support in-cabin and underhood applications with same design – Some MOTIX™ TLE987x, TLE989x and TLE995x derivatives are qualified up to Tj = 175°C and therefore enable a family design approach due to pin, package and software-compatibility.
  • Enable high level of system reliability – Extensive diagnostics and protections are embedded within the system-on-chip, more than a discrete approach can offer. In addition, MOTIX™ MCU (SoC) and the external MOFESTs can be protected.
  • Enable high performance – The TLE989xcomes with CAN/CAN-FD communication interface and addresses high power 3-phase motor driver applications with secure motor control approach.
  • Enable safety – Some of the TLE989x and all TLE995x variants have ASIL B rated safety level.

MOTIX™ MCU tool chain and design-in support

MOTIX™ MCU | 32-bit motor control SoC solutions are supported by a complete development toolchain provided by Infineon and third-party vendors. The toolchain includes compilers, debuggers, evaluation boards & shields, reference designs, low-level drivers, verified and production-ready motor control software and configuration tools. Furthermore, plenty of application notes are available to support your design-in activities.

Together with our partners (Preferred Design Houses) we offer an optimized open market customer support for systems using our products. They are trained to provide application- and product-specific support such as

  • Consulting & training
  • Provision of software components, e.g. low-level drivers, embedded software, simulation models, etc.
  • Software development, e.g. parameterization, customization, optimization, tuning
  • Mechatronic development, e.g. design, layout & development of systems, system and test verification
  • Testing, e.g. measurement and test services, test bench services like identification, verification, validation
  • Prototyping, e.g. target cost development, PCB design & component selection
MOTIX™ software and tools

  • The MOTIX™ Motor Control Library for BLDC motor control allows users to easily optimize parameters and carry out configurations. Through automated testing and test coverage reporting, production ready quality is ensured. Furthermore, due to modularized software architecture and platform approach, software solutions are scalable.
  • Low-level drivers provide users with a file pair (c./.h file) per module to allow the initialization and configuration of the module during runtime via provided APIs. The low-level driver is offered as demo code. Customers can also get access to additional documentation and test reports.
  • Configuration tools provide graphical user interfaces to define and generate register settings for the evaluation and configuration of MOTIX™ products.
  • Simulation & modeling tools allow for efficient prototyping of design and calculation of right values and parameters.
  • Utilities are tools which enable users to accomplish a range of tasks such as get readings, analyze data and create dashboards, e.g. Memory Analyzer.
