About

The EconoDUAL™ 3 modules with the latest TRENCHSTOP™ IGBT7 chip generation extend the existing IGBT4 portfolio with current ratings from 250 A to 900 A . The 750 A and 900 A modules feature an improved housing for handling higher currents and temperatures within the same footprint. The 250 A, 300 A, 450 A, and 600 A modules complete the portfolio towards lower current ratings. In combination with the TRENCHSTOP™ IGBT7 technology, they show a significant reduction of losses, a high level of controllability and switching softness, as well as high short-circuit capability. Together with the maximum operation temperature of 175°C at overload, high efficiency and power density are achieved, enabling system simplification and cost reduction. Main applications are motor control and drives, solutions for solar energy systems, and power converters and inverters for wind turbines.

CO2 reduction targets make the electrification of large vehicles inevitable, but the repetitive start-stop cycles and the long operation hours put a high demand on power module lifetime.

The Wave power modules come in the standard EconoDUAL™ 3 housing but feature additional ribbon bonds on the backside for an advanced cooling concept with direct liquid cooling. The ribbon bond solution reduces overall temperatures and ripple in e-trucks, e-buses, drives, or wind applications. In addition, the Wave power modules provide up to six times longer lifetime due to better cooling or improved output current by up to 30% at same lifetime and a compact and robust design with molded terminals.

EconoDUAL™ 3 modules are also available with integrated shunt resistors for current monitoring in the AC path across a wide temperature range. The integration of additional functionality into the IGBT module is a very effective way to optimize the overall system costs of an inverter. Optimized heat spread guarantees effective thermal management and with the pre-applied thermal interface material, you can achieve the longest lifetime. External current sensors are no longer needed. This saves space in the system, reduces material costs, and lowers manufacturing efforts.
