Infineon hosted the Austrian IPCEI Day at the Infineon Hub in Vienna, collaborating with representatives from FFG, AWS, and the ministry for climate action, environment, energy, mobility, innovation and technology. Alongside our Austrian IPCEI Partners NXP and AT&S, we reflected on the impact of the Important Project of Common European Interest on Microelectronics (IPCEI ME) and looked ahead to the second project of this dimension: IPCEI Microelectronics and Communication Technologies (ME/CT).

All Austrian IPCEI Partners were in attendance and the event attracted over 40 participants, featuring a wrap-up of IPCEI 1, an outlook on IPCEI 2, as well as detailed posters showcasing the project focus from each partner.

With inspiring networking opportunities during breaks and lunch, we dare call this event a full-on success.

In May, an Infineon delegation from Villach, Munich, Bucharest and Brussels visited the Technical University of Sofia with the aim to establish a closer scientific cooperation between Infineon and its Bulgarian academic partners at TU Sofia. The focus of this agreement is to provide comprehensive support for groundbreaking research activities in the field of microelectronics, targeting Master and PhD students.

But the visit also gave the opportunity to get a deeper insight into the comprehensive landscape of the Bulgarian microelectronics ecosystem. This included a talented network of PhD students, an advanced AI community, and innovative startups.

Infineon Technologies Austria and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FER) of the University of Zagreb launched a 6-year academic cooperation in powerelectronics. The focus is on R&D of microelectronic solutions that reduce energy consumption and drive decarbonization as well as on #education for these research fields. Prof. Željko Jakopović (FER) has been appointed to lead the cooperation, which is part of Infineon Austria's IPCEI spillover activities.

A large number of FER students attended the presentation of the cooperation on November 3rd 2022 held by Sabine Herlitschka (CEO Infineon Austria), Oliver Heinrich (CFO Infineon Austria), Hrvoje Bujanović (State Secretary of the Republic of Croatia), Vice Rector Prof. Tomislav Josip Mlinarić, Dean Vedran Bilas, Prof. Željko Jakopović (all three University of Zagreb), and Josef Markus Wuketich (Austrian Ambassador to Croatia) at the University of Zagreb.
