Contextually aware devices for more intuitive human interaction

Here at Infineon, our vision is to make all electronic devices contextually aware by giving them human senses so they can see, hear, feel, and even smell.

Everything from wearables and home appliances to robots, cars, machines, and building automation systems should be able to detect and understand their surroundings, and to react in a contextually sensitive way.

These intuitive sensing capabilities will mean that humans can interact with smart devices in a more natural and seamless way than ever.
More contextual awareness also paves the way for greater process efficiency in industry.

Powering IoT connectivity

Digitalization is one of the defining trends of our time, transforming all areas of life and potentially providing innovative answers to many of the key challenges facing society. We are rapidly moving towards a world where almost all “things” will be connected.

Not surprisingly, COVID-19 has had a massive impact on the pace of change, shifting customer interaction to the digital space and converting analog products and services into digital offerings. The pandemic has speeded up the adoption of digital technologies worldwide by several years and many of these changes could be here for the long haul.

All of this connectivity is being enabled by powerful, reliable, and robust microelectronics – tiny devices that are making everyday “things” such as wearables, cars, and industrial machines “intelligently connected” so they can exchange essential information to make our lives easier. Here at Infineon, we are committed to delivering the reliable wireless connectivity technologies needed to make the IoT work.

The basic need of IoT.

We may be able to connect to the Internet from any device or location – but one thing never changes: Security is key.
To work, the IoT has to be secure. Infineon’s aim is to create trust in the digital world so that users, enterprises, and organizations can unleash the full potential of the IoT – safe in the knowledge that their personal data, sensitive information, and industrial IP remain safe and unchanged.

IoT security starts with authenticity. Genuine device identities or “identities of things” are crucial to cover all steps and layers in the authentication and communication process as data travels from “things” over networks to backend systems and onwards to other things. Our > OPTIGA™ family of embedded security solutions was developed specifically to meet the pressing need for end-to-end security across all network layers and devices.
