About

Infineon's automotive gate driver ICs for automotive power distribution can address various applications from today's distributed, through central domain oriented to centralized zonal E/E architectures. EiceDRIVER™ APD together with Infineon automotive MOSFETs combine the function of a relay and a fuse but with much better performance in terms of response time, shutdown accuracy, power consumption, and diagnostic capabilities. Gate driver ICs plus MOSFETs are typically used once higher load currents need to be switched or more design flexibility is requested.

Infineon's gate driver IC family for automotive power distribution support different board voltages from 12 V, 24 V, and/or 48 V. The EiceDRIVER™ APD products have either 1 or 2 gate output channels. These products are characterized by the ability to drive multiple MOSFETs in parallel and have simultaneous switching times in the µs range, which significantly improves the board net reliability compared to classic fuses. With the low power consumption, they offer a further advantage compared to a relay. In addition to this, these products offer different protection mechanisms (e.g., wire protection) and diagnostic possibilities.

With Infineon’s EiceDRIVER™ APD gate drivers ICs designers are well prepared for today and upcoming challenges of the automotive electronic/electrical (E/E) architectures which demand components that meet the requirements for PRO-SIL™ ISO 26262-compliant and PRO-SIL™ ISO 26262-ready classifications used in fail-safe and available as also in fail-operational power distribution systems.

Infineon offers a range of design-in materials, which include application notes, evaluation boards, PCB design data, simulation models, and also online simulations. Those materials could be found on each product page in chapter "Design Support". In addition, we offer a dedicated tool suite for smart power switches and gate driver ICs for automotive power distribution.

Infineon's smart power switches and gate driver tool suite supports system architects and hardware designers from the idea to the realization. This suite allows the user to select the right smart power switch or gate driver IC for a specific load using one of the “Finder & Selection” tools. Together with the different “Simulation & Modeling” tools, various application scenarios can be simulated for the respective product. The results can be documented in the report tool and verified with the “Configuration” tools plus the corresponding evaluation boards.
