About

With AURIX™, automotive developers can control powertrain and safety-critical applications with one MCU platform. Developments using AURIX™ will require less effort to achieve the ASIL-D standard than with a classical lockstep architecture.

Customers who want to reduce their time-to-market can cut down MCU safety development by 30%. By the same token, a performance surplus of 50% - 100% allows for more functionality of safety-critical applications and offers a sufficient resource buffer for future requirements, keeping the power consumption at single-core microcontroller levels.

While protecting IP, and preventing theft and fraud, the AURIX™ family of first-generation 32-bit microcontrollers provides an already built-in Hardware Security Module (HSM). Thanks to its unique features, AURIX™– TC2xx is the perfect match for powertrain applications as well as safety and security microcontroller applications (such as steering, braking, airbags, and ADAS).

The AURIX™ TC2xx MCU comes in different variants, with CPUs ranging from 133 MHz to 300 MHz, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Another key feature of the AURIX™ TC2xx family is its safety level, which goes up to ASIL-D, the highest level of safety integrity. This makes it an ideal solution for safety-critical applications such as braking, steering, and engine management systems.

In terms of memory, the AURIX™ TC2xx MCU comes with a range of options, from 512 KB to 8 MB of flash memory and from 48 KB to 2.7 MB of RAM. This allows developers to select the appropriate memory size for their specific application needs. The MCU is also available in different packages, with pin counts ranging from 80 to 516 pins, making it suitable for a wide range of board designs and form factors.

AURIX™ TC2xx MCU is designed to operate in harsh environments, with a temperature range of -40°C to +150°C. This makes it suitable for use in automotive and industrial applications that require reliability and robustness in extreme conditions.

TriCore™ is the first unified, multi-core, 32-bit microcontroller-DSP architecture optimized for real-time embedded systems. The TriCore™ Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) combines the real-time capability of a microcontroller, the computational power of a DSP, and the high performance/price features of a RISC load/store architecture in a compact re-programmable core.

The architecture supports both 16-/32-bit instruction formats.

The key features of the TriCore™ Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) are:

  • 32-bit architecture
  • 4 GBytes of address space
  • 16-bit and 32-bit instructions for reduced code size
  • Branch instructions (using branch prediction)
  • Low interrupt latency with fast, automatic context switch using wide pathway to on-chip memory
  • Zero overhead loop capabilities
  • Dual, single-clock-cycle, 16x 16-bit multiply-accumulate unit (with optional saturation)
  • Optional Floating-Point Unit (FPU) and Memory Management Unit (MMU)
  • Extensive bit handling capabilities
  • Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) packed data operations (2x 16-bit or 4x 8-bit operands)
  • Flexible interrupt prioritization scheme
  • Byte and bit addressing
  • Memory protection and debug support

AURIX™ TC2xx “SafeTlib”

The AURIX™ TC2xx "SafeTlib" is a set of SW tests that supports applications with functional safety requirements, including SBST for the CPU core. It also supports system integration with application-dependent tests and handles internal and external watchdogs (SafeWDG).

Drive Core for AURIX™

Infineon’s AURIX™ Drive Core is a scalable software bundle that accelerates development, simplifies migration, and reduces commercial and supplier management complexities.

Infineon offers optimized, open-market customer support for systems using AURIX™ MCUs through a network of technical experts. Our participating partners are trained in the use of AURIX™ microcontrollers and provide product and application-specific support. The Preferred Design Houses (PDH) extend the support force by specifying and customizing expertise and thus increase the value of customer service.

The first level of support is provided by local field application engineers, and the second level, which addresses more complex topics, is provided by dedicated automotive security experts. Dedicated on-site consulting can also be organized to help customers reduce development time and costs.
