They include smart kitchen appliances in which electricity is consumed only when it is needed. Or batteries for e-cars whose performance steadily increases, while charging times become increasingly shorter.

If the electricity comes from renewable sources, such as wind or solar power, the supply of electricity may not be able to satisfy demand. How can that be balanced out?
