New materials, optimized processes, and capacity shifts keep innovation moving. At Infineon, we manage change with clarity and discipline. Our Supplier Product/Process Change Notification (SPCN) procedure ensures timely, transparent communication so we protect quality, reliability, and supply continuity—together.

Semiconductors power vehicles, factories, energy systems, and connected devices. A small change can have a big impact on performance and safety. The SPCN process aligns suppliers and Infineon early. It reduces risk, enables robust qualification, and safeguards our customers. It also supports compliance with industry standards such as JEDEC J-STD-046(change notification), J-STD-048 (product discontinuance), IATF 16949, and AEC-Q100/101 or comparable ZVEI standard for automotive-grade reliability.

Please refer to the Purchase Specification Part A (PSA): Annex 1 - Quality Requirement, chapter 8 – Major Change List or refer to relevant contract or specification.

In case no major change requirement were signed please follow the mentioned requirements,
Please submit an SPCN for any change that may influence form, fit, function, quality, reliability, safety, compliance, or lifecycle.

See typical examples  below (or please refer to JEDEC J-STD-046(change notification)  J-STD-048 (product discontinuance)

  • Change in external dimension
  • Change of critical material/component
  • Changes in process technology affecting critical process steps
  • Change of product marking technology
  • Site transfer to a site not previously qualified
  • (fabrication, assembly, or test site of the finished product)
  • Change in carrier type (tube, reel, tray, etc.) or dimensions
  • Change of product orientation within shipping media
  • Significant change of labelling
  • Dry pack requirements change
  • Reduction in environmental storage conditions
  • Change of datasheet parameters, electrical specification
  • Elimination of final electrical measurement or burn-in
  • (if specifically stated in the datasheet as being performed)

We follow a simple, gated flow from request to evaluation and decision, further to release which linked to suppliers and internal counterparts, to enable the document upload, request delivery and the transparent decision information.

Advanced notice is essential. Please adhere to the agreed-upon timeline as outlined in the Major Change Agreement, as referenced in the Product Specification Agreement (PSA) or Quality Assurance Agreement (QAA), or other written form specifications.

In the absence of a specifically defined timeline by Infineon, please notify your Infineon business counterparts at an early stage and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations when submitting the Supplier Product Change Notification (SPCN).

The normally required information could Include but not limited to:

  • Affected material or parts and Supplier plants and Infineon sites, type of change, and reason.
  • Detailed before/after comparison with photos or schematics.
  • Risk assessment and updated FMEA and control plan if necessary.
  • Qualification plan and results, including reliability and ESD/MSL data where applicable.
  • Samples and date code plan for smooth transition.
  • Compliance updates (RoHS/REACH/IMDS) and labeling changes if it applies.
  • PPAP or PPA package as required (typically Level 3 for automotive).

Please register firstly via the Infineon Portal , then submit SPCNs using the Infineon SPCN tool. Attach all supporting documents. Your Supplier Quality Manager (SQM) or Buyer is your point of contact (POC)to align scope, timelines, and sample needs. For urgent topics, inform us immediately and formally register in SPCN for progress monitoring

The SPCN procedure keeps innovation predictable and supply chains robust. Early notice, complete data, and disciplined qualification protect our shared reputation for excellence—and support safer, smarter, and greener systems worldwide.
