About

As part of the XC2300 family, the XC238xA (LQFP-144), XC236xA (LQFP-100), and XC2336A (LQFP-64) microcontroller series is the high-end extension of the XC2300 family focusing on body applications. With an extended memory size of up to 832 KB flash and up to 50 KB RAM running at up to 80 MHz, the microcontrollers are well suited for high-end BCM and gateway applications. This high-end extension of the XC2300 family as well as new low-end and high-performance products launching in 2010 have completed the rich portfolio of scalable products. XC23xxA MCUs offer a state-of-the-art connectivity with up to 24 ADC channels. They are additionally characterized by a rich peripheral set with a General Purpose Timer (GPT12E) unit. The XC23xxA family devices use the package type PG-LQFP-144 and PG-LQFP-100 (Low Profile Quad Flat Package): PG-VQFN.

  • Fast time to market due to Infineon's proven in use safety concept
  • Comprehensive safety documentation, intelligent error management avoids false alarm and therefore, reduces FIT and DPPM rate
  • Scalable platform guarantees optimized cost-performance ratio
  • Supports ASIL requirements

The implementation of ISO26262 and IEC61508 std. compliant safety critical systems requires an independent robust safety watchdog for main microcontroller supervision.

Thus, microcontroller-based safety systems, must be made of three components: Main microcontroller, an independent watchdog with robust monitoring channels, and a supporting safety software.

With its safety computing platform, Infineon covers all of these three needed components: The XC2300 MCU family, the CIC61508, an independent

robust watchdog plus, the SafeTcore safety library.

All three components were specified and developed for efficient implementation and fast  time to market.

Typical target applications of Infineon’s safety computing platform are IEC61508 and SIL3

and ISO26262 and ASIL-C-ASIL-D applications.

CIC61508:

  • Intelligent error management
  • Robust monitoring channel
  • Up to three safety enable and disable paths
  • Task monitoring
  • Wide temperature range (-40°C to 140°C)
  • TSSOP-38 package

SafeTcore library:

  • Processor monitoring and self-tests
  • Independent safety monitor software with tasking V5r2p3
  • supports ISO26262 and IEC61508
  • Small memory footprint typ. 92 KB ROM
