Infineon bringt RISC-V in die Automobilindustrie und kündigt als erster Halbleiterhersteller eine Familie von Automotive-Mikrocontrollern auf Basis von RISC-V an

März 2025 – Die Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) ebnet den Weg für die Einführung von RISC-V in der Automobilindustrie: Das Unternehmen wird innerhalb der kommenden Jahre eine neue Familie von Automotive-Mikrocontrollern auf Basis von RISC-V auf den Markt bringen. Diese neue Familie wird Teil der etablierten Automotive-Mikrocontroller-Marke AURIX™ von Infineon werden. Sie wird das bestehende Portfolio an Automotive-Mikrocontrollern des Unternehmens, das auf TriCore™ (AURIX TC-Familie) und Arm® (TRAVEO™-Familie, PSOC™-Familie) basiert, erweitern. Die neue AURIX-Familie wird eine breite Palette von Automotive-Anwendungen abdecken, von Einsteiger-MCUs bis hin zu Hochleistungs-MCUs, die über das hinausgehen, was heute auf dem Markt verfügbar ist. Auf der Embedded World 2025 stellt Infineon nun einen virtuellen Prototypen vor – unterstützt von wichtigen Ökosystem-Partnern. Dabei handelt es sich um ein Starter-Kit, mit dem Partner von Infineon noch vor Verfügbarkeit der Hardware mit der Software-Entwicklung beginnen können.
"Infineon hat sich das Ziel gesetzt, RISC-V zum offenen Standard für die Automobilindustrie zu machen", sagt Peter Schiefer, Präsident der Automotive-Division von Infineon. "Im Zeitalter der softwaredefinierten Fahrzeuge werden Echtzeitfähigkeit, Funktions- und Cybersicherheit sowie Flexibilität, Skalierbarkeit und Software-Portabilität noch wichtiger als heute schon. Mikrocontroller auf Basis von RISC-V helfen, diese komplexen Anforderungen zu erfüllen und reduzieren gleichzeitig die Komplexität im Fahrzeug sowie die Markteinführungszeiten."
Infineon ist der weltweite Marktführer für Automotive-Mikrocontroller mit einem Marktanteil von 28,5 Prozent (Quelle: TechInsights: Automotive Semiconductor Vendor Market Shares. 2001 bis 2023). Durch das Joint Venture Quintauris arbeitet Infineon mit anderen führenden Unternehmen der Halbleiterindustrie zusammen, um die Industrialisierung von RISC-V-basierten Produkten zu beschleunigen. Infineon ist nun der erste Halbleiterhersteller, der eine Mikrocontroller-Familie für den Automobilbereich auf Basis von RISC-V ankündigt.
Um die Implementierung der zukünftigen Produktfamilie zu erleichtern, arbeitet Infineon gemeinsam mit seinen Software- und Tool-Partnern daran, ein umfassendes Ökosystem zu etablieren. Das virtuelle Prototypen-Kit, das Infineon auf der Embedded World 2025 vorstellt, basiert auf der Tool-Suite von Synopsys, einem strategischen Partner des Unternehmens. Es wird den Aufbau des Ökosystems unterstützen und sein Wachstum beschleunigen, da Partnerunternehmen mit ihm bereits jetzt die Entwicklung ihre Software- und Tool-Produkte für die RISC-V-Architektur von Infineon beginnen können – noch bevor die Mikrocontroller-Hardware verfügbar ist.
Mehrere Partner wie IAR, Elektrobit, Green Hills, HighTec, Lauterbach, PLS, Synopsys und Tasking haben ihre Arbeit mit dem Kit bereits begonnen und zeigen erste Lösungen auf der Embedded World 2025. Weitere Partner werden im Laufe des Jahres 2025 folgen. Basierend auf ihren Lösungen wird sich der virtuelle Prototyp zu einem vollständigen digitalen Zwilling von Infineons zukünftiger Mikrocontroller-Familie entwickeln, mit dem Kunden ihre Entwicklungs- und Markteinführungszeiten verkürzen können.
