Overview

Infineon's new 8FX CY95F71xE/J/L and CY95F77xE/J/L series MCUs are entry-class, 8-bit, general-purpose, single-chip products with a variety of peripherals for applications such as air conditioners, remote controls, and white goods. The highly flexible composite timers provide pulse width modulation (PWM), pulse width counter (PWC), interval timer, input capture, and other functions. It is also equipped with an LCDC that assists LCD control.

About

The new F²MC 8FX CISC CPU has a maximum operating frequency of 16.25 MHz and a minimum instruction execution time of 61.5 ns delivering superior CPU core performance for an 8-bit CPU. The number of cycles of each instruction has been optimized to deliver the required processing capacity at relatively low frequencies, helping reduce power consumption.

The built-in composite timer can be programmatically selected from the PWM, PWC, interval timer, and input capture functions for each channel, enabling the timer to flexibly support a variety of system requirements.

The product line features a variety of flash, ROM, and RAM configurations. The highly reliable flash guarantees data retention for 20 years with 100,000 write/erase cycles. A flash security function prevents unauthorized external reading of the program. The system is capable of EEPROM emulation using the built-in dual-operation flash.

The product includes UART and I²C interfaces. The oscillator, reset IC, and EEPROM are built into the microcontroller, helping reduce costs. The devices, which feature 16-bit arithmetic operation, can be configured for various low-power-consumption modes. Other features include BIT-branch-test and BIT-test-manipulation instructions, an optional main-clock and sub-clock resources, an external clock, an external interrupt with an edge detector interrupt capability, an on-chip debugging unit, a hardware/software watchdog, a low-voltage detector, and programmable port-input voltage levels. The devices are available in a 64-pin package.
