EiceDRIVER™ compact gate drivers provide driving capabilities of up to 14 A making booster solutions obsolete. They are ideal for applications using traditional switches, such as IGBTs or MOSFETs, but also for leading-edge technologies such as silicon carbide MOSFET or IGBT7. In particular, the Miller Clamp option enables superior application safety by avoiding parasitic turn-on, especially when driving CoolSiC™ MOSFET and TRENCHSTOP™ IGBT7.

About

The EiceDRIVER™ Compact and Enhanced families are some of the most notable isolated driver families. EiceDRIVER™ Compact are easy-to-design simple isolated gate drivers with 2-level slew-rate-control and Miller clamp functions in small package like DSO-8. EiceDRIVER™ Enhanced offers advanced features, such as short circuit protection (DESAT) and soft-off, Miller clamp, and I2C-configurability of multiple parameters for rapid prototyping and conditional monitoring, enabling predictive maintenance.

The X3 Compact are simple gate driver fulfilling the highest isolation standards:

  • The X3 Compact Gen 2 (1ED314x and 2ED314x) are 6.5 A 1-channel and 2-channel isolated gate driver in DSO-8 and DSO-16 (w/o 2-pin), it is the latest and most cost-effective family.
  • The X3 Compact Gen 1 (1ED312x) products offer up to 14 A output current capability, with separate output or Miller Clamp features.

The 2L-SRC Compact family (1ED32xx) offers two-level slew rate control, enabling on-the-fly and cycle-by-cycle gate resistor change. The products offer up to 18 A output current capability in a standard output configuration and a Miller Clamp option.

The 1ED Compact family in DSO-8 150 mil narrow body package (4-mm creepage) with functional isolation:

  • The 1ED-AF products offer up to 10 A output current capability, with separate output.
  • The 1ED-MF products offer up to 6 A output current capability, with active Miller Clamp.

Infineon now also features the EiceDRIVER™ Power 2EP1xxR family, a full-bridge transformer driver IC housed in a compact TSSOP8 pin package that provides a simple power-supply alternative to generate an asymmetric output voltage to supply isolated gate drivers. The IC features a unique duty-cycle adjustment capability, integrated temperature, short-circuit, and UVLO protections, and frequency adjustment options, all of which contribute to highly efficient, customizable, and flexible design possibilities aimed at reducing system costs and enhancing reliability. Designed to optimally supply gate drivers for various switches, it supports TRENCHSTOP™ IGBTs, OptiMOS™ MOSFETs, CoolMOS™ superjunction MOSFETs, CoolGaN™ high electron mobility transistors, and CoolSiC™ MOSFETs, working seamlessly with EiceDRIVER™ Compact Isolated Gate Driver ICs and other similar products.

XDPS2201 is a multi-mode, digitally configurable hybrid flyback controller that combines the simplicity of a traditional flyback topology with the performance of a resonant converter.

This training provides an insight about the system benefits of wide-bandgap devices, which will conquer market share in areas where power density, efficiency and/or battery range are decisive. The training focuses on two applications, mobile chargers and on-board chargers, and will talk about the challenges faced by the solutions today and how SiC and GaN provide next levels of performance.
