About
As body control modules (BCM) and power distribution centers (zone control units, power distribution units, relay, and fuse boxes) become increasingly complex, the partition and software flexibility of SPOC™ +2 with a number of SPI-configurable features is the right solution. A very low ohmic DMOS power stage combined with advanced protection and diagnostic features make the SPOC™ +2 family suitable for resistive, inductive, capacitive, and high inrush current loads and can replace relays, fuses, and discrete circuits. The product family is designed to address applications such as power distribution to ECUs, exterior and interior lighting with lamps and LEDs, sensor supply, and heating.
The family offers 4- and 6- channel devices (from 5.5 mΩ to 70 mΩ) in a TSDSO-24 exposed-pad package and provides state-of-the-art diagnostics and protection features. Based on the identical footprint of its packages, maximum design flexibility is provided, allowing an easy adaption to the load without major modification of the PCB layout. PWM operation over SPI, compliance with the most severe reverse battery requirements (through the reverse ON feature), reduced operating current consumption, simplified and cost-efficient ground network with integrated diode, outstanding current sense accuracy, benchmark cranking voltage specification (down to 3.1V), and SPI daisy-chain capability are the key factors for the success of SPOC™ +2 in the automotive market. Furthermore, the concept allows a channel parallelization where two channels drive one load. Consequently, the supported currents are in the range of 1.5 A to 14 A.
The product family offers unique software-configurable protection features, which can be applied individually for each channel. Besides state-of-the-art functions such as short-circuit, overcurrent protection, and temperature protection, SPOC™ +2 includes a configurable overcurrent detection threshold. The protection can either be configured with intelligent restart control or with direct latch. Furthermore, the kILIS factor (ratio between load current and sense current) and the switching slew rate can be configured in order to address different applications. For all SPOC™ +2 products, Infineon provides a common-SPI concept to allow full software re-use. The devices include enhanced diagnosis functions, such as open load and short-circuit to battery detection.
ISO 26262-ready products are developed according to Infineon’s sophisticated automotive development process and quality standards. For ISO 26262-ready products, additional functional safety analysis is provided, to enable customers to use Infineon QM products in safety-related applications. A Safety Application Note (SAN) can be delivered to serve as the building block for customers’ system-level safety concepts. When integrating ISO 26262-ready devices in safety-related systems, the independence between such elements and the safety goals or safety requirements has to be assessed by the customer, i.e., the independence between the QM functions of these elements and the application safety-related requirements. The Safety Application Note (SAN) is available for registered Infineon partners. Please register on myinfineon.com with your company e-mail address and get in touch with your respective Distribution or Sales contact to request the elevation of your myInfineon account to partner status. This is required to access the MyICP portal.
Infineon offers a range of design-in materials, which include application notes, evaluation boards, PCB design data, simulation models, and also online simulations. Those materials can be found on each product page in chapter "Design Support". In addition, we offer a dedicated tool suite for smart power switches and gate driver ICs for automotive power distribution.
Infineon Smart Power Switches and Gate Driver Tool Suite support system architects and hardware designers from the idea to the realization. This suite allows the user to select the right smart power switch or gate driver IC for a specific load using one of the “Finder and Selection” tools. Together with the different “Simulation and Modeling” tools, various application scenarios can be simulated for the respective product. The results can be documented in the report tool and verified with the “Configuration” tools plus the corresponding evaluation boards.
