About

A low-side switch controls current flow by placing its switching element between the load and ground. In contrast to high-side configurations, a low-side power switch is ground-referenced - making it the preferred topology for driving resistive loads, inductive loads (relays, solenoids, motors), and lighting circuits where the load connects to a positive supply rail and the switch interrupts the GND path.

Infineon's HITFET™ family - available as Classic HITFET™ and the advanced HITFET™+ series - sets the industry standard for smart low-side power switch design in automotive and industrial applications. Each device integrates a precision low-side MOSFET with a complete protection and diagnostic layer on a single chip, replacing multi-component discrete solutions with a single, robust low-side switch IC that is AEC-Q100 qualified.

The Classic HITFET™ 12V family has been the trusted choice for automotive and industrial low-side switching for years. Thanks to their proven technology, the reliable devices are the right solution for applications that require high robustness and energy capability.

What's available:

  • Single and dual-channel options
  • Resistance range: 8 mΩ to 900 mΩ
  • Three package sizes: TO252, SOT223, and DSO-8

Infineon's latest HITFET™ + 12V generation brings advanced integration and temperature protection to automotive and industrial designs. The innovative technology shrinks package size by up to 50% compared to Classic HITFET™ 12V - saving valuable PCB space.

Key advantages:

  • Flexible design options with multiple package and feature configurations
  • Standard and fully-featured variants available
  • Resistance range: 11 mΩ to 110 mΩ
  • Two compact packages: TO-252 and TDSO-8
  • Handles resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads

The Classic HITFET™ 24V family is the proven solution for harsh-environment applications in transportation, commercial vehicles (CAV), and industrial systems. These rugged devices are built to withstand demanding conditions in construction and agricultural equipment.

What's available:

  • Scalable single and dual-channel options
  • Resistance range: 18 mΩ to 490 mΩ
  • Three package sizes: TO252, SOT223, and DSO-8

Designed for higher-voltage systems in CAV and industrial applications, the HITFET™ + 24V family delivers smart switching in an ultra-compact footprint. The TDSO-8 package is up to 5× smaller than market standards, reducing both cost and board space.

Key advantages:

  • Status pin for faster failure detection and diagnostics
  • PWM capability up to 20 kHz
  • Ideal for braking, transmission, and compressor systems
  • Optimized for 24V CAV vehicles and industrial equipment

Infineon offers a range of design-in materials, which include application notes, evaluation boards, PCB design data, simulation models and also online simulations. Those materials could be found on the each product page in chapter "Design Support".  In addition, we offer a dedicated tool suite for Smart Power Switches and Gate Driver IC's for automotive power distribution.

Infineon Smart Power Switches & Gate Driver Tool Suite supports system architects and hardware designers from the idea to the realization. This suite allows the user to select the right smart power switch or gate driver IC for a specific load using one of the “Finder & Selection” tools. Together with the different “Simulation & Modeling” tools, various application scenarios can be simulated for the respective product. The results can be document in the report tool and verified with the “Configuration” tools plus the corresponding evaluation boards.
