A high-side switch is a power management device that connects and disconnects a power source from the load and protects against short circuit and other faults.
Infineon’s PROFET™ protected high-side MOSFET power switches offer solutions for a wide range of 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V automotive and industrial applications and are available as single- and multi-channel switches. Our latest DMOS transistor technologies offer improved short-circuit robustness and better RDS(on) performance as well as high-voltage capability and optimized chip size.
All PROFET™ smart high-side power switch families offer protection against overload, overvoltage, short-circuit, excessive temperature, ground loss, power supply loss, and ESD. Additionally, different PROFET™ families can protect against dynamic overvoltage such as load dump and inductive load turn-off depending on the application they were designed for (e.g., automotive, industrial, commercial, and construction and agricultural vehicles (CAV)).

PROFET™ + 12V family is characterized by its high short circuit robustness and drives currents from 0.5 A to 11 A. The whole PROFET™ + 12V high-side switch IC product family is pin-to-pin compatible within the family as well as with the PROFET™ + 24V family.
PROFET™ + 24V are designed for higher voltage supply systems and harsh operation environments like trucks, buses, and construction & agricultural vehicles (CAV). The scalable family with 12 pin-to-pin compatible devices offers comprehensive protection functions, very fast current sense diagnosis and an extended operating voltage range.
PROFET™ +2 12V, our latest product family of smart high-side switches, offers protection, and a more accurate current sense diagnostic. Designed for nominal load currents from 1 A to 32 A, it addresses a wide range of power distribution applications. The pin-to-pin compatible packages (TSDSO-14 and TSDSO-24) enable ultimate design flexibility and ensure a low power dissipation as well as space-saving on the PCB. PROFET™ +2 12V family includes AEC-Q 100 Grade 1 as well as Grade 0 qualified products for high ambient temperature applications and offered as PRO-SIL™ ISO 26262-ready device.
The PROFET™ Wire Guard automotive eFuse portfolio is characterized by embedded hardware-based wire protection via integrated I²t calculation functions, selectable according to the wire profile and system requirements. This precise, fast, and reliable protection characteristics by hardware enables simple fuse replacement in modern power distribution and therefore, wire harness optimization in terms of cost and weight plus PCB space savings. With the automatic idle mode, the devices offer full-load control and self-protection functionality in key-off mode, with minimized power consumption. In combination with the adjustable overcurrent threshold, the PROFET™ Wire Guard accurately provides fast failure isolation towards the system power supply for safety-relevant applications. The sequential diagnosis provides detailed status feedback via one single pin. With the capacitive load-switching mode, a broad range of capacitive loads can be charged in the safe operating area. The PROFET™ Wire Guard family is developed according to ISO 26262 and a safety manual is provided for the integration in automotive safety applications.
Power PROFET™ are designed to drive high-current loads up to 60 A and used in 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V automotive applications like heaters, glow plugs, pumps, and fans, where high energy capability is required. Embedded in different power packages and featuring the lowest RDS(ON), the Power PROFET™ family offers high current and energy capability in a scalable family. All Power PROFET™ are qualified for automotive applications according to AEC-Q100; Power PROFET™ + are additionally offered as PRO-SIL™ ISO 26262-ready.
PROFET™ Industrial is designed for industrial applications. Due to their outstanding energy robustness, they are perfectly suitable for high-side relay drivers, as well as switching high-inductance loads. Their main application areas include high-voltage applications (VBAT up to 58 V), high-speed PWM applications (up to 1 kHz), switching higher inductances smoothly, enabling switching of applications with long wiring, or any other kind of inductive loads or applications with space constraints.
Classic PROFET™ 12V is an established and versatile family. With more than 25 years on the market, those power ICs have proven their technical advantages and benefits. They are designed for currents from 0.5 A to 20 A and offer high-energy capability. Additionally, some devices offer a low current limitation threshold. They also operate in an extended voltage range and offer 6 different packages in the family.
Classic PROFET™ 24V is the variant of the Classic PROFET™ 12V, but designed specifically for 24 V applications: commercial, agriculture, and transport vehicles, ABS, fuel injection, etc. In addition to the features and benefits of the 12 V family, those integrated load switches also offer a high clamping voltage (up to 75 V) and PWM capability. Available in 8 different packages, Classic PROFET™ 24V can drive up to 8 channels. Classic PROFET™ 12V and 24V are both automotive qualified.
